HTC Vive Issues
I think I am doing something wrong. I eventually get the game running (after the game crashes and/or freezes), and the graphics and lighting is really, really bad. I have played lots of the demo's on the vive and they look great. I keep changing the graphics settings, and it keeps reseting to lower quality, but even given the lower quality setting it is really bad. Like distracting bad.

Anti-alisasing is horrendeous. Lighting is all blurry (I have blur off). Images are wavering in the background.

Not sure what I am doing wrong. If it was not for all the demos working great (and looking great), I would say it was the Vive.

I'm running it in Oculus DK2 and it's amazing. What processor / gpu and OS are you using?

ED has had native Vive support since 1.5/2.0 released in December 2015.

I can eventually get it working (I figured out what you had posted on my own, but it is still rather glitchy/crashes even with knowing that), for me it is more about how bad it looks and how the graphics settings keep resetting. I am not talking about the normal, "It's not as good looking as my monitor/4k graphics." I understand the headset is limited for rez. But there is obviously something wrong.

Edit: it keeps reseting the rez to 1280 x 720, etc.

I have a OC 980ti and an OC i5-3570k.

Another poster posted this as well, so I do not think it's just me:

"I have a Vive. I have tried ED with the Vive. My Expierience so far has not been good. You cannot use the headset in direct mode, it has to be outside of direct mode so its like an extended desktop. You run the game in SteamVR and set the game to 3D option (whilst looking at your screen) to - HMD (Headphones), this will then warp the screen and the image will be sent to the Vive. The problem is the game resolution is not NATIVE res of the headset, its running at desktop resolution of 1080p and the Vive goes to 1200p, menus and everything else are basically unreadable and i have to lean forward to read them, and the game looks really terrible graphically - i have a 980ti. Frontier have some work to do, they MUST get this working in Direct Mode so the game is Native resolution and frame rate with the Headset, OR Scale up the menus because they are NOT readable."

I have tried running it in both direct mode and not direct mode.

I'm having the same issue with ED and Vive with 980 Ti. There is also a thread on this issue here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=236794

Is this only a vive issue ? No one has this issue on the Rift CV1?

At least I am not the only one. Wish we could get an official, "We are aware of it and are working on it"?

Edit: I am getting some videos together. To try and show people what we are talking about. I think many people think it is just complaining about lower rez/etc. It is not that. There is definately something wrong.

Yeah I have the same problem. Other Vive games look fine but E:D does not. Looks like a problem with AA
dellguyzHK 10 Apr, 2016 @ 10:10am
I run E:D with my HTC Vive however the refresh rate and resolution always pop back to 1280x768 59/61Hz. The graphic looks bit of choppy because of refresh rate. Anyone have similar problem? (with 980Ti SLI setup and latest 364.72 driver)

for blurry test, yes, I got the same problem as well

Its unplayable for me on my vive it is so blurry and the text is blown out and AA'd . Lots of AA and flickering going on too. But it looks great on my friends rift.

(To me, it looks even worse then these pictures. Some things up close look good. All text, all background images, all lines are all bad/wavy/mess)

It is only ED that looks bad/has issues so far. I have lots of games on it and they look great. It is not a Vive issue. It is an ED issue. Hard to explain without showing you.
