Single frame small graphical glitch when changing reference frame?
Occasionally there'll be a graphical glitch when the reference frame changes from one body to another; it most noticeably affects the cockpit & hud rendering, causing it to be rendered slightly out of position for a single frame.

I've noticed it most frequently when wizzing past a planet (using it as a supercruise brake).

Anyone else noticed it?

I've no idea how E:D segments its coordinate space, though it seems logical it'd use planetary bodies as reference frames, and then do some high precision coordinate system translation when passing between them.
Why this would cause a graphical glitch for a single frame is less clear; FP imprecision perhaps?

Not particularly relevant, but this is on a 1060 6GB @ 1920x1080, high detail, latest drivers.

Noticed it too, but it is not excplusive to ED, it happens in other games too.
In KSP, for example, visually it causes short freeze.

You mean when using your Frame Shift Drive? Yeah, for some reason we all get that tiny stutter the moment it begins.

Except, apparently, for those with an SSD.

Not when activating it, when getting close enough to a planetary body that your frame of reference switches from the local Star, to the local Planet.

The glitch I'm talking about isn't a stutter*; the game remains perfectly smooth, it's just the cockpit & hud are rendered slightly out of position for a split second (single frame).

*(which, as you rightly suggest, might be the result of slow storage delaying texture or geometry streaming)

p.s. I also have an SSD (several actually)

I get that problem in VR from time to time. In normal mode I don't really see it.
