SteamVR "Connect Failed" + Constant Room Scale nagging
I'm opted in to the beta for both Steam and SteamVR.

Starting yesterday Steam VR reports:

"Connect Failed: A key component of SteamVR isn't working properly. (301)"

"Not Ready"

This started yesterday and was briefly resolved when I unistalled/reinstalled both SteamVR and Steam .After reinstalling I received the same message but just for a few seconds at which point it disappeard and I was able to update firmware.

At that point Room Setup was screwy. It would launch consistently but they floor calibration screen didn't have a "Calibrate Floor" button. It would let me skip it but would place the floor about 6' too high. I just kept trying and eventually it presented the button and I was able to calibrate and go about my business.

This afternoon I am being presented with the same error. Sometimes if I let it sit for a bit the error disappears and gives me Room Setup again, also with intermittent access to the "Calibrate Floor" button.

After many attempts I was able to successfully calibrate but then Steam wouldn't launch from the controllers. The headset was receiving video and presenting the default launch space but Steam would not launch. AltSpaceVR works fine.

I relaunched SteamVR and now I'm back to the original error: http://imgur.com/syqIARY

I'm going to eat dinner now and then go through the uninstall/reinstall process with Steam and SteamVR again.

Anyone have tips/feedback/insight?

One more bit, when I said "Steam wouldn't launch", it was running on my desktop like normal; it just wouldn't come up in the HMD (nothing at all happened, not even the time or the drop-shadow that I'd seen in the past).

Again, one more thing.

I've been sitting here with the error I described for about 15 minutes. Just now I noticed that the headset wasn't tracking (its set down in a spot that's out of sight of the lighthouses).

I had been sitting at : http://imgur.com/syqIARY

I then lifted the HMD into view of the base stations and the error changed to:

And when I proceed I am met with:

Adding I've been having the exact same issue with the room-scale nag and occasional lack of floor calibration. Also latest beta and latest firmwares.

If you are on AMD hardware, there is currently a startup crash on some configurations in the latest beta. A fix for this will go out in the next beta update, but for now I would suggest rolling back a version.

I, too, am having the same issue --- constant room-scale setup nagging and sometimes the lack of the floor calibration option too. Running the latest firmware and SteamVR beta.

I uninstalled Steam + SteamVR and didn't opt into either beta and things are OK. I'll try to figure out which is the culprit tomorrow.

There was a SteamVR beta update this morning, and so far it hasn't asked for the Room Setup again ... limited testing though so far.

I'm still having the issue. Steering clear of the beta fork of SteamVR for now.

We believe the constant room setup is fixed in the latest SteamVR beta:

Please let us know either way.

Hi Joe.

Yeah, it appears to be resolved.

Thank you!
