Finally got my Bluetooth working on my Vive. Here is what I did.
Steam VR Bluetooth Fix for Windows 10 (might work on Windows 7 as well) for the VIVE.

1) Go into device manager on your OS and make sure all Bluetooth Devices are all removed. If it's using Windows for Bluetooth it's not going to work. Some motherboards may need the bluetooth interface disabled in the BIOS settings.
2) Start Steam VR software.
3) Click on SteamVR drop down menu and select settings.
4) Click on install Bluetooth driver. Finish the installation.
5) Go to device manager and your Bluetooth Devices should only show
"BCM20703 Bluetooth 4.1 USB Device"
6) Reboot your PC
7) Start Steam VR software
8) Click on SteamVR drop down menu and select settings. Click on "Enable Bluetooth communication" and "Put Base Station in Standby mode when VR is not in use."
9) Pull out power from base stations and then re-connect power.
10) Click on SteamVR drop down menu and select devices "Reboot Vive headset"

You can either try to test right away or do another reboot just to get the OS clean.

Now your base stations and everything should shutdown when VR is not in use. They should start up once the Steam VR software starts. You may get some messages for things not working when starting Steam VR because it takes a few moments for the base stations to either shutdown or start back up.

Note: When the base stations are up they will show green and orange LEDs on them. When they go to sleep it will should show just one green light and no longer be able to hear them.

Should be good to go. This frustraited me for a long time but it's working for me now.

I've been searching for a couple months for the right fix and this is what I figured out.

I'll also add a note that you should not see bluetooth devices on or listed under the "Action Center" of Windows 10. When I did it broke it. :)

good methodology .. but i had a slightly different experience and thought i might add this just in case others still get stuck like me. between step 4. and step 5. nothing triggered hardware discovery on my system. the installation of the new drivers was not enough.

i inserted another step: unplug the power (non orange side) to the break-out-box, wait a few moments, and plug it back in again.

you should then hear the pings of devices being discovered/installed, and hopefully with the correct drivers.

maybe this is particular to my case. maybe it might have worked if i restarted my system (i did not want to risk the wrong drivers being read again with the rediscovery and installation of the rest of my still uninstalled bluetooth devices) but im too tired because of the time ive already spent on this to care to understand it any more! HTC/Valve, please fix your ♥♥♥♥♥.

"Install Bluetooth driver" button is missing in settings. Any new method to fix this?

Old thread, but then again it has been revived before and this is still first found when searching

Drivers should be in your Steam / SteamVR resource folder, typically:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR\tools\lighthouse\bin\win64\ vivebtdriver.exe or vivebtdriver_win10.exe
I find that problems in the settings page are resolved by restarting steam+VR, the computer or unplugging the vive box, but if that does not help the drivers can be installed by hand

So, All I had to do was uninstall all of those Bluetooth drivers from the Device Manager and my controller finally paired up. and it works in game. Thanks for the insight.

I had the same issue, but my SOLUTION was to replace the linkbox. I suffered from constant grey-outs, disconnecting base stations, controllers, and headset (which looked like a Bluetooth driver issue).

You can easily test if this is your issue as well, by disconnecting the linkbox from your computer and plugging in the headsets HDMI- & USB cable directly into the computer. But the headset still needs power though, so let the headsets power cable be connected to the linkbox to supply it with power.

If it works, you probably have a faulty linkbox, and a new one only costs like 30 bucks.

What do you mean when you say "If it's using Windows for Bluetooth it's not going to work. "?

Can you advise what the right procedure is then please, or perhaps provide a link as I am having the same issues described here. Thanks

Thanks. Yes I think something similar must have happened for me eventually Everything was reporting as up to date so I uninstalled and reinstalled Steam VR, but with no luck. Anyway, the next day the system reported an update pending and after the update all was well.
