The idea was supposed to be that the beta branch can be updated more frequently, without the risk of breaking the main version for everyone. Thorough testing of these updates takes quite a while, something which I don't get a lot of time to setup these days. The hope was that at least some of the community could try out the changes see if they function properly / effectively, and if so set them live, if not theres still the stable version to fall back on.
An engine change is a fairly big one which may not seem like a lot, only under the hood, but if I force it onto everyone straight away (with only minimal testing) and something goes wrong it could prevent people from playing.
Perhaps it was wasn't the best idea to fragment the community, I would probably elicit better (or at least quicker) feedback by simply forcing the updates, I suppose it is early access after all xD
Also I was not able to connect to the dedicated beta server, Steam would say "Beta access code invalid" every time I entered in the code. D:<
Anyways, these upcoming updates sound super cool and keep up the great work!
I have been making some progress on the survival mode recently, so hopefully there will be some new maps as a result of that, Jackal did express an interest in adapting some of his custom survival versions to this mode in an official capacity.
Weapons are a little more tricky as models need to be created / obtained, I would be interested in perhaps doing one selectable "side grade" for each weapon in the game currently, as I realise its a feature that many would like to see. But again it comes down to modeling / balancing / testing - again Jackal also expressed an interest in this area too (weapon modeling / animation), but like myself he is also working on other projects, so time is an issue.
In terms of accessing the beta you shouldn't need to enter a code as it is a public beta, simply select "beta - Public beta test branch" in the drop-down menu where "NONE - Opt out of all beta programs" is selected by default.

I may put up a similar guide somewhere when I get the chance, in the meantime follow that, it is pretty much the same process, just whenever you see "gmod" insert "Codename CURE" lol

- Ammo Box on Survival is shows a shotgun icon, gives me a pistol... Shows me Dual Pistols, gives me a MP5K. XD
- Add destroyed walls, so zombies can use, because you can block their door entrances.
- Remove the stupid feature where you look behind you and a massive horde of zombies apper out thin air in a fully blocked room, it makes teamplay less of a choice, since you can't even cover your team. (Right now the game is like, cover you teammates and die or Rush to the end and survive...)
Else than that, the game is good and fully functional, really enjoying how the Beta is so far, could just release it really. Just hope when it's released you don't put some game ruining feature on it.
(In a side note... A Rifleman class with a REAL rifle such as a Mosin would be good. :3)
