How can I use the character unlocks in game after i pre ordered the game? Will they automatically come into use or do i have to go put them on?

i just got the regular rising stom today and it wont start, do i have to update ro2 before i can play?

I got it today top. But there is three documents to download. Maybe we have to download and install all of them, then we can play online.
