Keep playing and get more points. You get points for killing people and helping kill them. You get even more points when they are within the objective. You points if you are in the objective and kill someone. And if you and the person you killed are both in the objective you get both set of points. You get points for killing people near your TL and SL. You get points when your team takes an objective and you are in it. You get points when your team loses an objective and you are in it.

NOt points for weapons.
What he described there is exactly how you gain honor points. Honor levels are independent from your role, so it doesn't matter what you're playing as long as you do what he says. That is how you level up your honor.
The only thing that effects weapon levels is just straight kills. You get 1 point per kill with the current 4x multipler. So 4 weapon points a kill.

What I mentioned earlier is for your honor. And it isn't just 1 point for each thing. Next time your in a game pay attention to how many points you get for taking objectives and killing people. Look at the scoreboard. There is only 4 sl's and 1 tl. Notice how many overall points people have vs. their kills.
So, when my experience is already way over the limit (e.g. 12222/4500) I should change the class from Squad Leader (12222 experience) to another class to add the experience to these classes, I usually don't use?
I mean, I still need 20 or so honor points for my next rank (rank 3x) but have so much XP as a squad leader...
Would that make sense?
One day you join a game and sl isn't open. What do you do? And don't you get tired playing sl?

That's not the question, is it?!
I would rather like to know how to get more honor :)
Honor is in the end the total summary of the points your earn in a round.

In a round you can earn kill points and team points. Both together are the honor points you recieve at the end of a round. So if you get 100 team points and 20 kills you will recieve 120 honor points.

Well pretty easy, play well and you get honor. :)

When it comes to the class levels they are linked to certain honor levels. To advance to a certain class level you also need to meet a specific honor level. You can check those requirements an the stats option in the main menu.

Alright, thanks so far.

But, I don't understand how it's possible that I've earned so much XP and so little honor... You'll get XP by just spending time on a server then, will you!? ;)
Maybe you put a lot of focus on kills and not so much on team points. As said the honor you recieve at the end of a round is pretty much your kills + team points. You mainly get team points for attacking or defending a capture zone.

Also weapons and classes level in general faster as your honor level.

Thanks for the idea but this can't be it: As mentioned, I usually play as a squad leader. In the end the score is something like: 160 team points - 20 kills.

I may be wrong about this, but AFAIR shortly before RS was released, weapon XP gain was increased by the factor 4 (1 kill -> 4 points). Honor however still is gaind with the factor 1. So with the current system your honor rank is bound to rise slower than weapon levels.
It seems like my Elite Rifleman class has been locked at around 64/80 honor, even though I have capped objectives and such
there are also unranked servers...not sure if you get honor point there. sure you dont get them for weapon lvls
Make sure you stay for the entire round and you see that your stats have saved. As MeFirst said, you have separate ranks for each class in addition to your OVERALL honor level. You must reach a certain overall/ general level of honor in order to further level a class. (IE, you must be honor level 80 or higher in order to level a class to the Hero level). Weapon leveling is not affected by this and may be increased regardless of honor level.

Honor points are translated from general points in a match and are gained by contributing to caps (more points for more friendlies in cap), resupplying MGs, getting assists, getting kills, destroying enemy obstacles/ emplacements, bonus points for vehicle kills, having people spawn on you (as SL), protecting your commander, or being an SL and having your mark be used for artillery (you'll get a kill assist point for every enemy killed).

By the nature of this system, you can hit class level caps very easily and be stuck at a certain class level (especially if you consistently play one class) for a while. But every level of honor takes progressively more points to reach the next one, so you're encouraged to switch up your classes and progress them while you contribute to the much slower, overall Honor level.

It takes a while and can be grindy, but that's sort of the point of most leveling systems; put in a lot of time, get benefits in the long run and have something to strive towards.
