Tanks = OP, AT rifles = the most useless gun ever
I spend about five minutes straight last game using the PTRS-41 to unload well over 20 mags into a Panzer, and no, that's not an exageration. In fact, I may have under-shot that estimate. The point is, the AT rifles aren't good for infantry and their even worse against armor. I don't care if I didn't "shoot for the weak spots" or some crap like that. If I unload 100+ 14.5mm AP rounds into the same part of a tank, I just turned that into swiss cheese. They need to make some changes NOW.

AT rifles are realistically useless. I recommend using engineer if you want to take out tanks. The class gets a submachine gun, 2 satchels, and 2 antitank nades. Plenty of explosives to take out those pesky tanks if you're a good enough flanker to get up close.
stick with the AT class...at rank 4 you unlock satchel charges! :D

I haven't had much success with the AT rifles, they don't work unless you hit the tanks from behind or from the sides.
Getting tanks with AT rifles, you have to focus on the weak spots. Just blindly shooting at a tank with 14.5mm ammo won't do much against them. Go for the tracks, brakes located on the last road wheel, middle of the tank right above the track and below the chassis. Also, the AT rifles were used most effectively at short range so the closer you get the better your chances of killing tanks are. Or you could do what Moskeeto said and drop the AT rifle and grab another weapon; it's what I do most of the time.
You have to really plan your attack with the AT gun. It's really rather fun to stalk a tank, slowly moving in on it as close as you can and at a good angle. I shoot at the track wheels. If you're getting little explosions then you're hitting something and causing damage. If you just get a ping sound and no explosion, try another spot because you're causing no damage. Once you find a weak point unload on it. You can easily take out a tank like that with less than one mag.
So....you sneak up on a tank...it takes about how long to finally get it destroyed? 5 minutes?

And how long does it take for the tank to respawn? 20 seconds? Great deal...
You can always just throw a AT grenade on it too for instant kills ya know :P And of course a tank is OP, IT'S A BLOODY TANK.
Last week, I watched an engineer rush up from the side of a bridge and blow up a T-34. And this with the Soviets all over the place. As a rifleman I tried to kill the guy but I was quite far away. After the tank respawned, I was tagging alongside it to the same bridge, and I caught a German coming up from under the bridge and I shot him in the face. I can't be sure, but it looked like he dropped an anti-tank grenade in the river. Do they have those in the game?

Yeah, both AT soldiers and Engineers have AT nades.
Sweet! I remember when the game first came out, I was hiding in a crater, tossing antipersonnel grenades at a T-34, just hoping to immoblize it. No such luck.

They don't always one-hit kill. Sometimes you might land them on a heavily armored spot that only damages the tank. That's when it's time to break out the satchels if you have any.
Is the armor thinner on top as it would be in real life? If so, there's advantage for getting some height on the tank.

Yes. It is much more effective to land the AT nade on the top of the tank. That's usually how I get the one-hit kills as an engineer. It's a fun class to play once you've got the hang of it.
"Once you get the hang of if it" is the key. I've only been an engineer twice and first time I accidentally blew up a couple of my compadres while trying to breach a wall. The second time I got shot just as I was trying to clear out some tank traps. On that second attempt, the good news was that when I came back from spawning (albeit in another class) I saw that at least I had managed to destroy the traps just before getting killed.
It can be done,In one pavlovs house map i took out 5 russian tanks, but you have to get high up somewhere, and aim for engine, tracks, roadwheel at the back.Go for the tracks first, take out one of them ,and hes stuck. That gives you plenty of time to relax and put some well aimed shots into the tank.
