Will the flamer ever be nerfed?
After loosing another dozen RS campaigns while playing Japanese (and steamrolling to victory on the US side just as many times) I really have to wonder about the game balance in RS. In normal matches the Japanese actually have a chance to win because they usually get to play on the defense but campaigns are an entirely different beast. M1 Garand + Flamers make attacking for Axis a nightmare and somewhat competent flamer players farm unreal amount of kills. Spawn on the squad leader near the enemy, point the flamer in the general direction of the enemy and fire your 25m insta-kill area damage death beam while getting a wall of bullet proof flames for protection. If you ever run out of fuel switch to the insta kill shotgun. You actually manage to die? Just respawn on the squad leader and you are flaming away again 10 seconds later. And hey, you got a heavy fuel tank on your back but you sprint as fast as everyone else. Seriously, the flamer is in dire need of balancing, right now it just breaks the game, especially in campaigns.
RO campaigns in general need some serious rebalancing, TWI should seriously look at some statistics, I bet US wins 95% of all campaigns.

The defending team shouldnt have any, like at all. They shouldnt run so quickly either, even when hero level, it just gets really irritating. The flamer also doesnt have really, any recoil. It can also carry other primary weapons for christs sake. I have no problem with their range, since that is realistic, but they should atleast have a higher chance of catching themselves on fire if they fire the weapon while they are inside a closed space like a bunker or room.

'Tis the weekly post of "Nerfin' da flamer" The Japaness have knife gunz of a reason you know. I happen to have killed quite a few flame wielders via knife & bullet tactics. This is a completed game, it is very likely that nothing will be changed in it. So, to answer your question, no it won't be nerfed. :bluewizard::pigface:

Guess you enjoy steamrolling the Japanese in your campaigns all the time?

Age old question this is. You either have good team players or people out just for kills. Quality team on either side will allways win. Doesn't matter about who wins all the time that you see. There will always be new people on either side and there will always be veterans being ok with losing everytime just to help out the new people. Only advice I can give is if you are a true fan of the game don't rage about people making stupid choices just offer advice and in the long run they will be a great player to. Worst thing we can do is to tell a newbie to give up and never play again. Give advice and that newbie will be (if he takes advice) 1 of the best team players and makes a great contribute for the team.

It's your team that sucks, not an OP flamethrower. I play Japanese on 2nd Fjg. server with a bunch of regulars and more often than not the Japanese win/loss is like 5-1. It's not the game its the players you're playing with.

If you don't have good communication you'll lose 9 out of 10 times no matter how leet of a team you have. I've been playing this franchise from the start and teams that communicate win, those that don't, don't.

Fun fact, a flamer doesnt have "recoil" like weapons do, its the same as using a fire extinguisher.

if u have a good team flamers arnt that good as u can take em out from a distance. the fool who says use a knife must be a troll or its ppl like him who make the flamer so leet.

Please don't speak about something you not do have a single clue about. Flamethrowers do have HEAVY recoil in real life. Here's a little something so you can smarten up:

(All I had to do is google: flamethrower recoil. It took 5 min. You could have done the same thing and avoid looking like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥)

No recoil huh? See how the guy is brassing like hell? And even then, he lands on his ass. This, is a modern flamer, guess how it was in the 40's? Flamethrowers in RS are unrealistic, period. This as been discussed several times, and we all know it. TWI don't give a flying ♥♥♥♥ about balance in RS, and won't do anything about it 'cause they don't care. Now, can we move on please?

I think the main problem is not nerfing the flamers but balancing out the maps in campaign mode.
Pte Maylam Nov 22, 2013 @ 3:36pm
I don't see why you didn't just put M2 flamethrower into youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpE3OgTNq5M

As you can see, considerably less recoil. What's the point of showing a modern flamethrower from another country? It's be like using footage of someone with a counterweighted, sight-equipped compound bow to answer a debate on how accurate an English Longbowman could be at the Battle of Halidon Hill.

Point was not to show what got the more or less powerfull recoil but to prove that flamethrowers do have recoil, you did not understand that did you? I'm sure you saw how US Marines brass and move slowly when using flamethrowers on WWII war tapes, well that's recoil.

Anyways, the whole thing was that the guy said flamethrowers had ZERO recoil, wich is not true, and we both know it, right? Right. So, now I ask you, what was your point demonstrating what I already demonstrated, maybe in a more extreme manner (yeah the flamer in my video is kinda like on steroids). I don't want to offend you, but I think your intervention was unneeded as what you said is not in context.
Diabolusdixit Nov 22, 2013 @ 4:55pm
I wish at least you can shoot from the hip while you're in flames, these RS's flamethrowers just instantly kill you.

I mean, burning fuel in the face, I get it, that can put you out of combat instantly, but burning fuel in the arms or legs and that's all, you're unable to fire back?, seriously?

Banzai is more useful in-game than you let on.

Yeh, the flamer is pretty balanced overall, the only aspect I'd like to see changed is the movement speed. Decreasing the movement speed would probably be a good thing.
