How to save Red Orchestra
- remove realism and action mode, there should be only one mode, namely: classic. Make the current classic mode the only mode you can play. This is closest to what RO1 made great. It will keep much of the CoD-audience away that loves to play realism and action mode. Many players (that never liked RO1 formula anyways) will not like this, but a sacrifice has to be made to make this game future-proof.

I dont know if TWI targeted this CoD-audience, but I do think so looking at how realism plays out and looking at the RO2 symbols, boxcover and (faulty) unlocksystem.
But hey, even the best gaming companies make mistakes. TWI is no exception.


- limit playercount to 50 for the big maps, 40 for the smaller ones. Many maps feel like a senseless push and pull WW1 style meatgrinder. Making flanking and other tactics non-existent since on every inch of map there is an enemy. Play Kwajalein and Hanto to experience that. Lets face it: many maps were never made to harbor 64 players, yet every map is being played with 64 players. Hell, many RO1 maps were bigger and some of those maps felt too crowded with the max 50p playercount.

- remove flamethrowerclass from US defending team, keep it if US team has to attack, also fix the ''invincible to bullets''-bug if flamethrower is firing. It is impossible for japanese to cap a capzone if flamethrower is hiding in a corner spamming flames that bounces off of walls. No grenade or mortar or bullet can counter that. The abundance of semi-auto weapons for US defending-team is more than enough.

- slightly rework existing maps that are considered unbalanced. For example: make another passageway to warehouse in Stalingradkessel OR make the warehouse cap lockable once captured by attacking team. On bridges of druzhina, open up more obvious buildings and place more cover/armor for the attacking team. This map was based on a DH1 map which had more armor and cover for attacking team. Right now, this map is an axis-stacked meatgrinder for russian team.

- Make the soundmutator standard or at least whitelisted: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=145520002&searchtext=

- Implement the community made vehicles, accompanied by a few maps that can harbor them (reworked bridges perhaps?)



Go ahead and call me pretentious, but only these changes can ensure quality of RO-gameplay and can halt the dwindling playercount.

I do approve all your points except the first because i played classic mode and didnt notice anything especial in it.So i really dont understand why people fap on it.

I understand your doubt, classic looks 1:1 the same with realism. However, there are changes in gameplay:

Weapons get more sway, no instant full accuracy-ironsighting while abruptly stopping from a sprint (the CoD stop-n-gun-strafe-gameplay), much less weapon-zoom, suppression actually being effective, more enthralling and actual firefights between riflemen, etc.
Its more realistic and closer to what ppl loved in RO1!

Its not the same but those features which you named are not so important for me.As fro Druzhina i found two points aftert the bridge really bad done because as an defender you experience lack of covers and same about attackers.Its the same ♥♥♥♥ as the buker point on Rakowice just depends on tanker and camping skill.

Grave for the CoD-audience that is, that ruined RO2 in the first place together with the CoD-gameplay elements.

In my opinion the only bad thing about realism its a spawn on SL feature.Really stupid ♥♥♥♥ when you gonna kill someone and then a paty spawns on him.In other games with this one people unable to spawn on him when he in combat to preven this ♥♥♥♥.

I like the zoom thing and the running speed in realism, but i'm not against more weapon sway, no instant full accuracy-ironsighting while abruptly stopping from a sprint, suppression actually being effective in realism mode.

More like how to destroy Red Orchestra 2. Realism is now the standard mode whether you like it or not, look at where the majority of the players are. Take away familiar servers from new players that have always played realism and never RO1 and they will just leave.

I dont think so.
RO1 was more popular, had a larger playerbase and had a much longer life than RO2 will ever have.

Yes, unfortunately for RO1 players that game is practically history, you are not likey to get many of them back now as the latest update to Classic proved, if you want to keep the franchise alive you have to get behind it as is.

Hello there

Whilst the game does need the odd tweak I actually prefer the assymetrical feel of the game.

I dont want everything balanced like every other game. If you want balance go and play sports. :)

Maps like bridges can be hard for the attackers to take, but with some coop play the map can be won and that give a great feeling of achievement.

There are ways to counter the flamethrower/mortar/pistol. It just takes planning and cooperation.

Vehicles need new maps and they will be forthcoming.

The only one of your changes I personally would like is the removal of Arcade mode, and thats just because I dont like it. But to be honest if folk enjoy it then let em play it.

Your list may be a good idea for many, and kudos to you for putting it down well, but for many others is somewhat flawed.

The major change I want is an ability to mount the MG anywhere is "could" be mounted. Thats an issue which needs addressing.

For me the most issue was that instead polish HoS.TWI decided to make easy money on RS thats my opinon.Though RS not bad its just a mod with retextured germans and Soviets.Probably it was an attempt to attract US people and so because of USA army but now they moved to BF4=) Now RS is kinda dead i must say.ofcourse there are some full servers especially at night(for my timezone) but in compare to HoS its almost dead now.
You may agree or disagree its just my opinion about the whole thing.
But as for me OP looks like a RO fan which was frustrated about RO2.I cant say anything about it because i dindt play RO much.

It's about ♥♥♥♥ing time for the sound mutator. I can't get it in my head, why it isn't already standard.
