Rising Storm/Red Orchestra 2 Patch Released

A required server update for Rising Storm/Red Orchestra 2 is now available. This patch addresses the following:

• Refined gameplay, balance, and cover on map OtoriShimi
  
• Fixes for server crash hacks/exploits
  
• Fixes for hit detection hacks/exploits
  
• When players are vote kicked from a server they are now session banned and cannot return immediately
  
• Added a new setting to allow server admins to tune the minimum kick votes required to kick a player from the server. This can be found here in ROGame.ini:

  MaxKickVotesNeeded=10
  
  
  
• Added a setting in ROGame.ini to allow server admins to prevent users that have a VAC ban in any game from being able to join their server. This is defaulted to off. The settings can be found here:
  [ROGame.ROSteamUserBanned]
  KickForVACBan=false
  KickForVACBanNum=0
  To enable this setting set KickForVACBan=false. If KickForVACBanNum=0 then players with any VAC bans at all will be kicked from the server. If KickForVACBanNum is set to 2 or greater than that will be the number of VAC bans the user can have in any game before being kicked. The recommended setting to ensure no VAC banned users can join your server is:

  KickForVACBan=true
  KickForVACBanNum=0

Please keep in mind, you will need to start your server at least once for these setting to appear in the ROGame.ini (or you need to add them manually). The server must be restarted after these ini changes are modified or added to take effect.

There is additional unlisted hack/exploit prevention in this update, but due to the nature of hacking we will not be going into detail on those items. If you encounter any unusual issues with this update please report it either on this mailing list or on the RO2 support forums here:

A server side only update as has also gone out that fixed an issue with the User Banned settings always being on even when not turned on by admins.

Could not even start a round. 3 seconds in game - steam and game crash. Just like before the patch. nice.

That number inicates that the game can't reach the internet (so it is using a default number). Most likely you have security software blocking the game. Make sure the game is on any allowed/ignore list, and if it already is, try removing it and re-adding it.

Yeah I have done that in the firewall settings who knows how many times. But the game freezes completely: I can not move my mouse and the game says "Not responding". Also my internet becomes super slow, which means I can not go to my internet browser without restarting my PC.

Probably because of your VAC ban. Lots of servers don't want people with any VAC bans to join now because of all the recent cheaters.

u got vac ban maybe its because of that

I'm a little disheartened that hacking in call of duty modern warfare 2 1300 days ago is now preventing me from playing on most RO2 servers, but I can understand the community frustration because I too have been getting killed with a pistol whip from across the map. Hopefully such broadly sweeping measures such as this auto kick for any vac ban are not required permanently. I would like to be able to determine in some way from the server browser if this feature is enabled, because I tried joining different servers to see if any of them had turned it off so that I could play the game, and none of them had before my game crashed and I gave up.
