Enough With Grain Elevator and Apartments All The Time!
Seriously, the amount of people who constantly vote for Grain Elevator and Apartments back to back every match are ruining the game for me. I like those maps, but I don't know why they can't get that I don't want to play on them 24/7. This attitude that I'm an idiot and an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for wanting to experience the other maps is more than a bit irritating.

I always get reponses like "If you don't like it, go play on another server". Thank you, Captain Obvious, as though I hadn't tried that already. I don't regular any one server, but go through several a day, and they each have the same problem with people only voting for the same two maps continuously.

When I have to go find a server with nobody in it to be able to play on a map that hasn't been forced on me 50 times in the last few hours, there's something wrong.

Can we all just agree to play the maps with a bit more regularity, instead of two maps 99% of the time and then one of the others only when someone begs long enough?

If not that, then perhaps Tripwire should make a few dedicated servers featuring thos two maps 24/7 so that everyone who wants to play them constantly can go to those servers and let everyone else experience the rest of the game without it being a rarity.

the new guys have always voted for those two maps. easiest to find their way around on, i guess.

It's not just new guys, though. And even if it were, it doesn't excuse the smug attitude they have toward/about people who don't have "play Grain Elevator and Apartments back-to-back a million times" on their bucket list.
Like I said in the OP, I'm always treated like an idiot, or just a jerk, sometimes both, because I want to play on another map.
Also, in regards to Grain Elevator, I think a good deal of it may be that they just want a map that's easy to spawn camp on, since that seems to be what happens at least 70% of the time I play on that map.

it's why i play on servers that run custom maps. i'm tired of the same ole, same ole.

I agree, they are overplayed, thats why I try to play campaing mode or do what R5CYA said, play custom maps.

Join campaing server, you get always different map.

Generally avoid servers that use mapvote, sadly that cannot be filtered out, so you either have to remember the bad or the good ones.
Campaign is easier to find and you have only one round per map, but sadly you can often see the same maps win in that too, depending on what maps are fighting each other on the campaign map areas. Since it's a vote, many things also effect it, like the team ofcourse, the first vote for somereason and ofcourse anything anyone shouts in Voip, no matter wich team they come from. And Bridges, cause, you know, bridges.

Grain is my least fav map. When I do play it I just grab a PPSH and I'm like GET OUT OF MY WAYYYYYYY.

Thanks for all the support. To be honest, when I saw the notification of 5 more comments, I was preparing myself for a ♥♥♥♥♥torm of outcry from the GE/Apartments 24/7 crowd. I was pleasantly surprised by having so many people who share my opinion find this thread.

You're in good company here. Many of us vets of the game hate those small, cramped maps.

I agree with you, but there are also other maps that are overplayed. I wanted to try out the new maps released for rising storm, but no one plays them and if a map vote occurs it's almost always iwo jima.

How about enough of Bridges and Winterwald? Two excessively large maps that take half the day to get an outcome? On some servers that are set to two rounds per match, you need to set aside your entire afternoon and evening!

I'm alright with Winterwald but heck, I usually log out immediately if there's another round of Bridges.

Ootori Shima is somewhat similar; being that it can take forever but yep only a few vote to attack it in campaign/matches.

Personally I like both maps, but that also may be because I rarely play on them. I don't mind the longer times, but that's personal preference, as I never liked how Firefight matches are so short, seeming like they end before anything interesting can be done, particularly if you're as cautious as I am (I'm the kind of guy who goes by the old tanker motto "There are old tankers and there are bold tankers, but there are no old, bold tankers" for a lot of stuff, so I tend to scan windows, corners, doorways, everything before exposing myself if at all possible). As such, I appreciate the longer playtime, but I can also see where it would be irritating to always play on those maps.
I think a good solution for all of these overused maps would be to have dedicated servers, made and run by Tripwire, that play said maps back-to-back 24/7 so that everyone else can have a break from them.

This is a solution to several problems but Tripwire does little to nothing to populate its own servers for this game.
