enlighten me, please, whats the point of this horrificly atrocious melee system?
after about 400 i can confidenly say: have never seen a more broken and unreliable game mechanic in my life.
lets forget about the part the basic idea that just getting in range in enourmous open maps where you die from one shot is hard enough as it is, but even when you do get in range, you are very likely to fail, and die because of how horribly broken and unpolished the system is.

first, good luck trying to land a stab: your idiot caharacter will miss the melee attack even if the enemy just took a single step aside, or better, just crouch, your dumbass soldier will just stand still poking the air if the enemy will just take a step backwards, completly unable to move untill the patheic stab animation is over.

even if you did connect the blow, you will still die, because hitting him anywhere which is not is upper chest, won't kill him! and it's very easy to hit the arms or stomach, he will have plenty of time to shoot you and then banadge himself even though a 80 KG man thrusted him with a huge bayonnet. you would expect your charcter to stick the knife in untill the enemy is dead, but nope, he just pokes him lightly and then retracts the blade, allowing the enemy pleny of time to shoot you.

got to stab him in a vital parts? you are still dead! because completly unrealistically, when the enemy is bleeding to death with a huge bayonnet with the force of 80 kilos stuck in him, he can still shoot you, or better, stab you too. killing people in hipfire from 0-1 meters is as you know, not very difficult.

and lets not forget you lose all stealth factor when trying to stab someone from behind because while you run to him you scream like a bloody idiot, for everyone to hear you.

it happened so many times that i came behind somebody, charged a blow to the max, hit him, only to deliver minor damage and then instantly get shot.
its infurating how broken this system is.

right now, it's complety usless and is basically just for humiliation purposes, maybe except for charging at bolt-action riflemen from a very short distance and last ditch effort when your gun is dry.

it's amazing how a game that tries to be as realistic as possible has one of the most unrealistic and unrelialable melee system i have even seen. even COD1's crappy bash is 100x better than this.

No ts not one of RO2 best attributes, the melee system. Buts its just another one of those things they went "Good enough" and just put it out for sale. And now it seams that all those little flaws will never get fixed cause they have basiclly given up on the game.

ive always had 1 hit kills in melee.. and if your japanese you would yell for a banzai attack. and if your running there is no stealth in the first place. i think you just should work on your skills dude..

Ive had some amazing bayonet kill streaks. I have to say I think your issue may be user based and not the fault of the game. Take into account momentum as well, you want to charge and stab through your target, not just stand there flailing your weapon around in the air hoping some unlucky soldier will catch it with his face. Try premeditating your melee kills and attempts.

Also, keep stabbing or shooting until your enemy is completely dead. The extra seconds you spend poking a corpse could save you your life.

There was no point with this melee 'function.' Just a slack design.

Melee system in RO2 is like a home-made weapon... it's still lethal, but you can feel it does not work as it should.

Still, is a sweet thing to stab 4 or 5 guys in a room while they're shoting through windows, unaware that you have reach their position.

Sometimes RO2's bayonet fights are like this:

id rather have the melee system as it is than the aracde way games like titanfall or battlefield have it. where guys wade through getting hit just to kill you with a knfie or a kick. i like this game just the way it is, you make a mistake you pay.

I just can't wait to get my new $.99 beta DLC pre-release upgrade so my flamethrower can get the equip the bayonet and 12x scope.

so it's my mistake that despite completly behind an enemy, stab him, and missed because the game only detects a tiny point in front of me instead of the whole screen?

and in battlefield/titan fall have lots of health that allowes for cheap melee kills, in RO2 you die from a single shot, and if you don't die from the first, you will walk at snail's pace. (unless banaziing)

no i dont flail wih my weapon, i charge at them, make sure they are in the center of the screen, release the melee attack, but either the enemy just takes a single step to any direction and my idiot soldier just stabs empty air in the most unrealistic fashion, or stabs him in the hands, which practically does no damage.

the biggest gripe i have with all this is that even if it was possible with enough practice and get enough skill (which is impossible btw) it's still maddening how difficult the melee combat is. what is so hard in stabbing a guy with a knife at 0 range??? if i get close enough for melee range and not die i desrve to kill him, and not graze his shoulder and die horribly because of my bravery.

never had issues with the melee system, to me it's working as intended and always will be...

People say the game lives in the past, yet, i have to be all up in their face to be able to stab them <- as intended and they all go down like a sack of potatoes ofc depending on where you aim because if you are terrible at the last part, then you might want to consider that being the true issue, just an idea.

This game has more important bugs/glitches to cry about, horrible foliage render distance, weapons not being picked up, players going invisible(happens sometimes on the first round of a map but disappears when you die) grenades going invis/mental(bug disappears when you die) and when you realize that the grenade you used was bugged its already too late, boom, suicide and a prayer to god that teammates wasnt around you, teammate dots disappearing on map and sometimes i even have a blue dot stuck to my map player indicator[Where i am in the world](random occurance) i could go on but naaaah.

Even got to know some of these bugs from my time in RO2 which then ofc infested RS...
