enlighten me, please, whats the point of this horrificly atrocious melee system?
after about 400 i can confidenly say: have never seen a more broken and unreliable game mechanic in my life.
lets forget about the part the basic idea that just getting in range in enourmous open maps where you die from one shot is hard enough as it is, but even when you do get in range, you are very likely to fail, and die because of how horribly broken and unpolished the system is.
first, good luck trying to land a stab: your idiot caharacter will miss the melee attack even if the enemy just took a single step aside, or better, just crouch, your dumbass soldier will just stand still poking the air if the enemy will just take a step backwards, completly unable to move untill the patheic stab animation is over.
even if you did connect the blow, you will still die, because hitting him anywhere which is not is upper chest, won't kill him! and it's very easy to hit the arms or stomach, he will have plenty of time to shoot you and then banadge himself even though a 80 KG man thrusted him with a huge bayonnet. you would expect your charcter to stick the knife in untill the enemy is dead, but nope, he just pokes him lightly and then retracts the blade, allowing the enemy pleny of time to shoot you.
got to stab him in a vital parts? you are still dead! because completly unrealistically, when the enemy is bleeding to death with a huge bayonnet with the force of 80 kilos stuck in him, he can still shoot you, or better, stab you too. killing people in hipfire from 0-1 meters is as you know, not very difficult.
and lets not forget you lose all stealth factor when trying to stab someone from behind because while you run to him you scream like a bloody idiot, for everyone to hear you.
it happened so many times that i came behind somebody, charged a blow to the max, hit him, only to deliver minor damage and then instantly get shot.
its infurating how broken this system is.
right now, it's complety usless and is basically just for humiliation purposes, maybe except for charging at bolt-action riflemen from a very short distance and last ditch effort when your gun is dry.
it's amazing how a game that tries to be as realistic as possible has one of the most unrealistic and unrelialable melee system i have even seen. even COD1's crappy bash is 100x better than this.
