If it's not actually lag you're getting (only join servers with a low ping), then the only other thing you can do is lowering your graphics options. Especially shadows and lighting can decrease your performance considerably, try turning those down.

Am I the only one who thinks 30-45 FPS is actully the most ideal?

Yes you are. 60+ fps is always most ideal.

drop shadows to low. they still look the same and fps should go up. quite a bit, in my case. ditch eye-candy like light-rays while you're in there.

I play with all settings maxed out and it's worth losing some frames to me. With my new computer I don't know why I cant get 60fps like I can on other games that have far better graphics.

pretty sure the fps is capped by the game and can't be changed. Moskeeto knows and will probably be along soon to confirm.

I think he means he can't get his computer to run the game at 60 frame without lowering some settings, not that he wants the game to run at above 60 fps.

perhaps you're right. is 60 the limit? i don't remember what the cap is. i don't bother with fps meters. my eyes will tell my when i have a problem.

The default limit is 62 fps for some odd reason.

thanks.

You say default, is there a way to change it not to cap at 62?

Yeah, in the ini files.

i don't think there's any reason to do so, unless you have a 120hz monitor or want to brag.
what are your thoughts on that, Moskeeto?
Chaunsey May 1, 2014 @ 7:18pm
there could be many reasons.

for example if you have a newer system, sometimes older games dont take advantage of some of the tech in your system, and may in fact actually run slower than a neer game that on paper requires more power.

the unreal 3 engine is a bit long in the tooth at this point, its not the smoothest well running thing out there.

unreal 4 is just rolling out now, the first game made on it was just released.

hopefully tripwire has a new unreal 4 based RO in the works.
