Is this patch ever going to come out?
Been hearing about it for months. Do they have like 1 guy working on this or something?

No but it is a lot of content. Dont forget they are not working on a simple patch that contains some bugfixed. They took all the maps from the last map contest and do some polishing and balancing for it. They are also working on "brewing" which should make all future patches and custom content more easy to release.

They are adding a lot of new content for this patch:
  • New "brewing" system to completely replace the old cooking system
  • Bug fixes (particularly tank bugs)
  • Transport vehicles
  • Search and Destroy mode
  • New RS map - Maggot Hill
  • Contest winning maps
  • Possibly more, etc.

It's not just a simple patch. It takes a lot of work to get all this stuff done and ready for the public build.

Also, this isn't the only game TWI is working on. They have to spread out their resources. And the company currently doing contract work for them, AMG, also has another project in the works. Not a game, but a film project: http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=96766

More than Tripwire ever hired. That's apparent.

It's not all that surprising how long they take considering they are probably about 50 people at most working on at least 3 projects at a time. Plus, each employee has his own expertise. It's not like all employees are coders. Very few of them probably are, while others are artists, sound designers, map makers, etc.
