Is this game worth buying?
Are there still a lot of people playing multiplayer?

How many people are going to make this thread? i know people are new but jesus, there's a "is the game dead" thread everyday.
Short answer, no it's not dead. But i'd suggest watching some youtube videos on how to play before you hop in a Squadleader, Assault, Sniper, or Commander role, or you'll ♥♥♥♥ off a lot of vets. Just saving you trouble before it happens.

Also, if you decide to get into this game, make sure you buy Rising Storm and not Red Orchestra 2 because RO2 multiplayer comes free with RS. RS does not come with RO2 though.

The multiplayer is always playable. But just ensure its an army sim you are after rather than a traditional fps run and gun.

check out gameplay videos on Youtube.

I play RS all the time, always 3 - 5 full realism servers

The only problem is they need to rotate custom maps, the stock maps are getting pretty old

Its sort of like asking if Rome 2 is worth buying; At 60$, no; but at 20$, yes.

Yes, it is worth buying. A bit long in the tooth perhaps, but nothing yet to replace it.

That is down to the people who run the servers, not Tripwire really, plus people usually bail when a custom map pops up.

People go out because nobody wants to waste his time until the map will be downloaded.

NOOO its crap, horrible to play with full of bugs. RO was much better for its time even if its almost the same game .

Yes, it RO2/RS is worth buying. It has taken me some time to fully appreciate RO2 (I was originally unhappy with some of the changes), but even with my initial qualms it has remained one of, if not, the best PC oriented MP FPS experiences available. Coming back to the game, I realized how much better it is than a lot of the crap FPSs of the last 2 years.

It it most certainly worth buying. At about 500 hours play time you might see some of its faults. LOL
