Time To Stop Allowing Players To Pick A Side?
Should players be auto-assigned a side in RO2 multiplayer matches based upon rank to achieve better balance? It's becoming increasingly clear that the most fervent (and often times, high ranking) players are choosing Germany as their preferred side which is resulting in quite a number of lopsided games.

The game's current auto-balance feature seems to be ineffective at correcting the problem. Anyone aware of any servers that are considering moving towards auto-assigned sides?

I usually let the game decide for me and just play what I am given. This can lead to some friendly fire when I keep changing teams!!
Yeah. But I almost always go Russian or Japanese anyways.

It seems the Americans are filled with people who want to play straightforward and the Russian's tend to get noob-stacked for some odd reason. This is particularly a problem on Bridges.
Probably. It does seem to be team stacking of experienced players rather than sheer unbalance, as I have played servers where there is an even spread of skills and then it boils down to the team to is most cohesive.

Nah. It's no fun to be TKd by lamers, or autokicked because they run onto satchel objectives you're blowing, or stuck with riflemen while they totally fail to fulfill their class roles, etc etc.

I don't mind carrying a good or even a mediocre team; but I don't like the game being rendered unplayable by bads.
LOl last post reminds me how some dude picked up a TL role on spartanovka. So during the match germans took C and before it i placed the point on it for arty.Somehow we started to take this point back and somebody asked where is our arty.I said that probably this dude took the role for the gun. After it noob commander called an arty on my point which was placed before it when the point was German.Instakicked lol.
youll find that on our server a lot, with RMC all on one side where possible, but its not to stack , inour case we want to battle together as a team of players who know eachother well and work well together and for no other reason, it annoys me however as the chap obve mentiones everyone wants to be german, well RMC does do both sides in both theatres of ops
but i find it annoy8ing when for example the game is underway its 10 v 10 4 gemrans russians leave the game for whatever reason (telephone, doctors , whatever) then its 10v6 new guys come in and join the side with the higher number.... and yest team balance is turned on BUT
people found a way round it
when the server stuck emon allied side they spectate axis then join as axis,,
if a game is underway and you join , you should join the side with the least ammount of troops,
for myself if other clans come into the server id rather see two sets fo clan members on opposing teams also cos its unfair on the general punters who are havingto fight two clanns that occupy the slots onthe other side
One main headache is the autobalance feature, which is piece of... Well.

Luckily on only a few servers use it.
A lot fo experienced players choose a side for one of the following reasons:

-They already maxed out levels for those weapons

-They are trying to level up weapons.

I find that most players who have leveled up everything (there are not many of these people) will just join whichever. I'm personally in a level up phase. I've maxed out most weapons in Rising Storm, and I'm tring to max out the rest. Unfortunately, they are all the weapons I don't like. :/ Oh well.

You guys have to learn to liberally kick bad commanders. Eventually new players will get the message not to take the spot for the gun.

Better yet, take away the primary and give him only a pistol, while opening up another slot in assault class.

As a new and casual player, who has never even bothered with the singleplayer campaign, I have to admit that I don't care which team I'm on or who I'm up against. Just let me onto an almost full server with no bots!

I only play ranked realism servers and am still learning the maps (so, yes, I sometimes don't know which way to run and when someone says to cover point A, or B, or whatever, I don't have a clue.

But I don't team kill within 80 meters, never knowingly, and only if all I can see is a silhouette in smoke running towards me in a suspicious manner, which means almost never and not at all recently (so I am getting better at enemy ID).

It is a source of pride when I rack up a reasonable kill list during a round because I know I am helping the team in a small way each time. But those experienced machine gunners, though...brutal to a noob like me!

By the way, are bot servers default or can I filter them out of my server search list? And why can't I seem to get the game to store my favorite servers? I keep trying but everytime I log on again, they're gone from the favorite list.
I like choice. Not a fan of auto balance. I always pick the team that has fewer players--Russian if both sides are even.
I usally just click auto at team select screen I prefer the germans and japanese but playing as american is pretty fun as well I just don't like the russians.

But the thing is is that the Soviets are basically the German team, just with almost aesthetic differences. It so bizarre how the german team consistently dominates when playing RO2.

Barring any kind of overriding historical appreciation for German weaponry and tactics particular players might hold, I'd have to guess that personal politics play a role in many cases. The TWI forums are (or used to be anyway, I haven't visited for a while) littered with German-only players that use avatars and banners heavily influenced by nationalist imagery.

I get the impression that a lot of long-time experienced RO players have always bent towards the Gernan side because of shallow political beliefs, therefore they're going to play Germany when they get the chance -- you know, "National Socialists versus Commies", "the lesser of two evils", and similarly related idealistic hogwash.

Personally, I stick to the Russian side because I like the feel of their weapons better.
No way it just makes the game way less fun. When I play RO2 I want to pick my side.
