You'll always get cheaters. Can't stop that. I don't think they will destroy the game. There are twice as many people playing right now than what we had before the giveaway.
Probably just some fallout from the vac ban crew.
Player count declines?
I didn´t check the usage statistics, but if I would have to draw conclusions from the number of players present in the realism servers each time I play RO2/RS, I see no declinein servers filled (nearly) to the brink.
To the contrary, it seems to me like we have more servers filled (near) to the max now.
Lesson here is that you should NEVER give a game away for free.
pretty sure the free giveaway boosted players. i would of never given this game much thought if i didnt see it advertised as free for a day =). i imagine there a lot of others like myself who would of never played this game otherwise
No offense to you personally but given that nobody made any money from this giveaway and it let the gates open to hacking pieces of sh.yte, I'm not sure you're making a good argument in defense of the free giveaway.
how is more players to help boost the longevity of a game a bad argument since more players = more full servers.
yes there may be some hackers who got in but that happens regardless(cheap sales bring them in to) but the majority of people who nabbed the freebie are legit players.
on a side note how does company not making any money from it affect any of the players such as yourself? anyways im sure they did make money with rising storm sales. they didnt give it away for free for no reason. it was a marketing tactic(notice around same time rising storm was on sale) while also pleasing gamers who have never got to play this great game.
i like this new free giveaway trend, i hope more companies do it! even origin is handing out games here and there.
Yeap, 100% agree... but twi aren't the smartest.
Not really, and at 4.99 a pop I doubt it brought in much.... but the cost to the existing community was high
+1
It was just as easy to find a full server prior to the giveaway as it is now, the biggest difference is now hacking/cheating has a much higher profile.
1+ from here too, no more free giveaways please.
