I remember someone doing this like a month or so after RS came out. I called the guy out for cheating then next thing you know he took my name. Some people started to vote kick me but there was a few people that said I wasn't a cheat. Then of course he changed names again. Everyone was getting votes to kick as he ran through the names. There was also a number of times after that I vouched for a number of players that had this happen to them. Luckily I haven't seen this happen in a while.
Generally they are up to no good. Most communities I am in ban them.
This is a classic tactic used by cheaters and hackers. Try to identify these people through their specific steam id, rahter than their nametag. The steam id of a user never changes no matter how many times they change their nicknames.
I wrote down his ro2 game ID.... but thats next to worthless as its a case of 'he said, she said'
This is one guy, and I have seen him change his name 15 to 20 times in 10 seconds. He also has wall hacks and is apparently flat out invisible on occasion. Definitely correct that the jerk steals player's names, and they get threatened with the kick, but it goes farther than that because he can take your name, then apparently follow you around from spectate and shoot you when he wants to. This guy is twisted, and needs to be twisted into a VAC banned heap.
So as players what do we do with known cheaters ID?

Is steam or twi interested? as in do they review the player in any shape of form when enough reports come in on said player/s? or is it pointless as a players to even bother getting ID's of cheaters

Yes, Valve do review the players if enough report their profiles. Valve is pretty secretive about how VAC works, but I imagine that the more reports one gets, the more closely they are watched. In any case, all the reports many of us submitted helped to get rid of a bunch of accounts during the big hack attack (many were suspended and many more got RO2 VAC bans).
I only have the dudes ro2 id..... doesn't help does it?

I've never found that to be helpful, unfortunately. Try googling Steam ID converters though.
If you have one's RO2 id, the one which starts with 7656... etc, you can convert it to "Unique ID" which RO2/RS servers uses when banning people. Get this information to your server admins. At least that way you can get the hackers stay out of your favorite servers.
