Can someone explain?
So there's the PPSH- 41 and the PPs-42
From what I can tell, the 42 has no upgrades whatsoever. Why did they put it in the game? What is the point of it?

The point is that the weapon existed and it's nice to have options. However, the upgrade to the weapon at level 25 is to have a stock and at 50 it's just shinier like all the weapons get when leveled up. It's not possible to create upgrades for every weapon, because there weren't many variations of each weapon at the time. Personally, I would have preferred if they went with whatever state was most common to have the weapon in and have no upgrades except making the weapons look shinier as you used them more.

So.... you have to level it up to make it equal to the PPSH-41 which comes with a stock out of the box?
It just seems like they could have added in something else, especially if there's really not much of a point in using the 42. The 42 has a stock, gets a drum mag, and selective fire, after all.

Again, it's all about choice. If you don't like the weapon then don't use it.

I actually use the PPS-42 more than the PPSH because I find it better for medium range engagements with it's lower rate of fire, but maybe that's just me. I do have it al level 50 though so maybe that helps.

Alright, that's actually helpful. I didn't realize it had a lower fire-rate (I really don't use it), that certainly would make a control difference.

Getting the stock at level 25 is all you need for it really. When you get that its very good at medium ranged engagements. And you can fire it at stationary targets long range to better effect than the PPSH.

However the PPSH especially with a drum mag completely outclasses it in close combat. You can walk into a room of 3 enemies and kill them all. With the PPS-42 and the MP40 for that matter the last guy can turn around and kill you with his bolt action rifle before you get to him.

The PPS-42 I think was implemented to help the Russians out at medium range. As the Germans MP-40 is very good at that and they have the MKB as well. So really th Russians only choice beforehand was the SVT. But having an average of 4-5 SVTs on a 64 player game against the Russians MP40, MKB, G41 and their superior MG made it very hard for the Russians to win medium to long range. The PPs-42 evens that out a bit.

The ammunition used is also better than the MP40 ammo at longer ranged the PPS-42 using 7.62mm tokarev rounds whioe the MP40 used 9mm parabellum rounds which were shorter and fatter than the tokarev rounds. Though I doubt that's reflected in the game.

I do like having the extra ammo from 50 though, you don't have to worry about running out pretty much ever.

Oh there's no question, if it's mainly indoors, PPSH all the way.

the 41 is better at range having a lower rait of fire and less recoil, a huge difference when it has the stock
and yea options are nice

if not then complain about the two jap rifles and mgs they get
