Interested to check out the new armor. One suggestion, however, how about reworking the tank maps to allow tanks to be able to run over/through smaller obstacles?
It's very frustrating to come to a dead stop in a 45 ton tank when you slam into a 2" dia. rickety wooden post, or have a tank hang up on an oil drum or other small obstacles that irl wouldn't even be felt by the crew inside.
Would changes such as these even be possible? Interested to know the answer if anyone has one please.
Eh, truth be told, there's really no great tank maps for RO2, and I don't really think there are many RO2 players who pop on just to tank. So, while its cool they're coming, I don't think it'll start a stampede to make a bunch of combined arms servers.
Tanking in RO2 feels more like a chore most maps instead of the unadulterated fun of maps like 'Orel' or 'Black Day July' for RO Ostfront.
In RO Ostfront there use to be several servers that were combined arms, 'Jolly Rogers' server for DH springs to mind instantly, as well as 'Right to Rebel' and 'TWB' combined arms servers for Ostfront. Those were great times to be a Red Orchestra player.(anyone remember 'Manny's Funhouse' server for RO Ost??? If you do you've been playing aloooong time, lol. It was run by a fella by the name of 'Manny the ♥♥♥♥♥♥', lol! Despite the odd name, it was a helluva server!)
At the beginning of RO Ost I was in a clan with a fella who was in his late 50's and he had been a tanker in the U.S. Army and drove a tank around Germany during the Cold War. He was in charge of the tank unit of the clan and he taught us alot about tactics and tank combat. We'd scrim other clans and demolish them in our German armor. It was a great experience. Learned alot and had alot of fun. Nothing in online gaming is more rewarding than a well oiled team who back each other up and use real combat tactics.
Tanking in RO Ostfront/DH was epic when those games still had a decent following. Probably the most fun I've had in the whole series. Ahhhhhh....the good ol' days.
The T-70s 45mm gun was actually a powerful little package capable of piercing medium armoured tanks. They could go toe to toe with a panzer 4 and come out on top. Though one hit from the panzer 4s main gun and they were pretty screwed. The T-70s armour was the same as the T-34 however.
