When did cheating become such a common practice???
I've been out of this game for a couple of months and after trying to start again for the past couple of days, I noticed I can't for the life of me find a game that's not ridles with blatend cheaters... The amount of people with wallhacks, aimbots and invuln hacks is just through the roof. When did this happen??? And people wonder why this game's multiplayer is near death...

Just to give a couple of examples:
Playing Kwajalein as an Ally, my team just got ♥♥♥♥♥ by some dude racking up dozens of kills by pin-point firing a mortar at 250 meters away. Each round fired caused multiple kills.
We were constantly getting banzaied by 2 or 3 guys that we just couldn't seem to hit. They could run straight into a .30 cal and a BAR and kill both without any problems.
Taking cover didn't help either, bullets shot at us could curve around corners and through stone... Took about 5 minutes for the whole server to simply bleed dry. No one stayed.

Stuff like this has happened to me about 3 times in the past 2 days and I play on PB secure servers only! Only thing PB seems to be good at is kicking people because PB itself failed to properly operate...

I have never had this problem in over 600+ hours. Play on a server with active admins thats the best anti cheat.

I haven't encountered any cheaters since they updated the servers with the VAC-ban autokick option. There were a few of them around the time the game went free to download for 24 hours but that's about it. I think you just had a bit of bad luck with the servers you were playing on. Personally I stick to the European 40-1 and TWB servers.

I have over 100 hrs into the game and have never seen anything like that.

Maybe you're just unlucky? :P

So one guy who knew the map and got lucky with the knee mortar did good and 3 guys banzai charged you lots which gives them a massive health boost anyway and suppresses you making it harder to aim anyway.

That's not hacking lol. Part of the game.

Cheaters are out there. Hell you can even buy a 'cheat book' for any game out there almost. New nature of the 'win at any cost' mentality of the new generations. It is a symptom of the disease, and it is getting worse. On our server we use the standard anti-cheats and still they get in. We find em and ban them FOREVER.

Depends what you consider common. I've only ever seen what i believe to be a cheater once and that was over a year ago. Perhaps its simpy because i go to well managed servers? Dunno.

I all too often see people cry 'cheater' when it really wasn't cheating. It usually turns out to be a matter of skill, luck and coincidence at play. People tend not to accept coincidences and tend to lean toward what they consider unfair play other than what it is, a simple coincidence.

I have close to 500 hours. Never seen a cheater.
Always play on severs that have active admins.

Actually the game's multiplayer has literally never been healthier. The free weekend this last spring (where you could get the game permanently for free that weekend) did bring in a lot of hackers and griefers, admittedly. Fortunately at this point they've pretty much all been dealt with, and we still have a big surplus of everyday players since before that weekend. It worked, although the hacking was painful for a while there. But it was advertised (by text spam) paid-for hacks, and the day they implemented the VAC ban exclusion, it for the most part ended. Sometimes you still get troublemakers hacking, but the server admins are coming together to end their shenanigans with blanket inter-server bans.

You're definitely right that PB is nigh on useless, and seems to cause more problems than it solves. Last PB update for RO2 was November 8, 2013... long before the hacking problem arose and was quashed. Hackers are obvious. And not because they seem "too good", but because the hacks they've bought have text-spam and name-changing code built-in, and so they're easy to spot.

Basically this game is pretty merciless. You think you're behind stone, but they can see the top of your head. If you're behind cover and you hear bullets still coming in, they can see you! You think you've filled someone full of lead, but you just wounded him and he's got the banzai buff. You think they've got an uncanny sense of aim with that mortar, but it only happens on predictable attack lanes, and a ton of people play mortar almost exclusively... they KNOW it's 90m from the forward AA gun on Peleliu to the backside of the building in front of B where attackers congregate... and you can see them there through the tiny cracks in the building... first shot jackpot.

Knowledge of maps alone gives players such a great advantage that it can easily seem like hacking to those who have been gone for a few months playing other games...

Yup, sounds like a typical game to me. Just because the ♥♥♥♥ have inferior weapons doesn't mean they can't slaughter like the yanks can. A rifleman with well-timed aim can take down a whole squad, as I've done several times, mortars are easy to use with direct fire, banzai grants a damage-resistance bonus and only grows with more banzai chargers, and the game has tons of holes in which one can shoot from, along with wall penetration to go along with that. People are easy to call out hacks nowadays because of the sheer skill one needs to obtain such. You almost never had that problems with the older games and when there was cheating, it was blatantly obvious. It's a tactical shooter with a fairly difficult physique to master, and with that comes the difficulty of hacking such to one's own benefit. Play the game regularly and know the mechanics. Your skills will recover after some time.

The free giveaway weekend was the worst idea (in a long list, by the way) that Tripwire had for this game. It hasn't been the same since.

I have seen more hackers since that weekend than in the entire history of this game. Little red boxes around your enemy must be some kind of enjoyable advantage for these idiots.

Wtf the ♥♥♥♥ are you talking about ?
"Little red boxes around your enemy" ?
You don't by any chance see little people too, do you ?

Hacking is exstremly rare in RO2. I'm close to 500 hours and I not seen one hacker. Sure I've been on severs where one tries to join, but before they even choose a team, they are auto baned.

If you think people hack, your being childish. This is not COD, you can't run around in a little circle like the enemy team does shooting one another.
This is RO2, there are points to hold/camp. If you keep geting shot by the same guy, consider this.
Are you running the same ♥♥♥♥ing direction each time. Better yet, are you constantly trying to "duel" with someone you don't even see.
Sure when I started out I raged, but one day I decided to whatch a game from spec. Guess what, I found some nick and cranies that people, normaly those that shoot me, where hiding in. And guess what, after know the ropes, I got better. If something confuesed me, I googled it.
Banzai guys not dieing ? Maybe if you googled it you would have found out that there is a health/speed muiltplyer that kicks in once a banzai is commensed.

Bullets curving around corners ? No, they just go through them. Many people are daft when it comes to bullets ballistics. A bullet (depending on size) can go through many things. Also when you enable the cover system, your guy is partly exsposed. You need to learn to crouch, and lean while in cover to be effective.

You lost me at "hacking is extremely(sp) rare in RO2."

You, sir, are incredibly naive.

P.S. What are you on about? You think a player with 1100+ hours doesn't know about bullet penetration and the banzai effect in RS?
