don't you think this game deserve a better order system for SL/TL
if this idea gets support i will post a poll in the offical twi forums.

as if now, the order function of the SLs and TL are completely usless unless you are handling bots.

no one listens to those orders, you get nothing if you follow them and they are in general very limited.
so it all boils down to who has a mic, and how well he can speak.

i think the game needs a more elaborate and rewarding order system.

first and foremost - WE NEED MORE ORDER OPTIONS.
a simple 'attack POINT X' 'defend POINT Y' and 'GO THERE' are barely anything. what about "suppress target?" what about "assault target?"

futhermore, the system needs to be more rewarding, right now the players feel absolutly no need to listen to officer's orders, because he has no power or authority over them, just because he grabbed the class first doesn't mean he knows anything better.

so i suggest awarding bonus points for both properly following orders, and issuing them well.

when asigining an area to supress, for example, all the team members that will be firing on that position will get bonus points for every supressed enemy inside the asigned area.

when ordering to stay inside a spesific area, any player that gets a kill from place will get bonus points.

that way, players will be encauraged to obey their officer, and he in turn will be encauraged to properly lead his squad. teamwork will be greatley improved. especially since the SL can give different orders to every team in his squad(riflemen,LMG, assualt.

battlefield has done this and it works geat, all the players want to stick togather because all the points they can get from healing/supplying their teammates while also get helpful bonuses.

so lets push this idea forward?

As much as I would like to see a lot of the game to be redesigned, I feel that it is much too late to change anything this drastically. Perhaps for a future iteration of the series.

good ideas. hell, just making sure people knew they would score more points by killing inside cap zones would help. i see to many peopl shooting from outside them. being in the cap and killing someone else in the cap scores for both. then you get points for being it it, when you cap as well. (if i remember right) as many times as i see people here asking about points and why they don't seem to be working, it's be nice if they knew the best way to score.
i agree with moskeeto. allthough the ideas are good, it's too late. maybe for RO3. not this one.

Yelling and screaming at people with mics works well enough.

Yeah I agree.

I do like a few of his ideas, mainly the reward for following orders. I can see that making sense.

Battlefield 2 gave bonus points for every normal point earned within a radius of a squad order. That seemed to work well enough. But I'm not sure that was because of their system or because players back then were generally less inclined to lone-wolf for kills.

Generally, I think it's easier for squad leaders and commanders to use their mics to convey orders vs. text chat/automatic orders.
you guys do realize that we won't see RO3 for years right? TWI is still patching RO2 and updating it. so it would make a lot of sense toe implement the system into the current game, considering it is also pretty easy to implement

I was thinking alot about this earlier. I had a couple of more "creative" ideas. You might keep the order vidget as is, it's basicaly enough to play the game. You might also want to add a realy good reward for following orders, I mean some REALY good reward not just some stupid +1+2. BUT, since so many people are mentaly unstable and sometimes their brain is disabled by default, they need some sort of punishment for not following the orders, becouse obviously even with good rewards cowards and new players will be afraid of charging an MG through smoke or taking a position that looks too open for them or what not, which basicaly disables you as a SL.
In order to avoid all this nonsence, we must take example of the real command in WW2. Prepare yourself, dear readers, Squad Leaders must be allowed to shoot members of their squad with no penalty! Yes I know it sound crazy, but read further. TL is not allowed to shoot anyone, but he can replace SLs, so basicaly he decides who is in his direct command, and if he is somehow unsatisfied he may just replace all SLs. So if squadmembers report that SL is just teamkilling for no reason TL might just replace the SL. Also only players with level higher then 60 should be allowed to take SLs or TLs. Also SLs should be able to manage their Squadmemebers, I mean replacing noobs on MGs or Assault rifles with better players if needed. Without a TL, no Squadleaders can be taken. So first a Teamleader must take position, and only after that SLs might proceed, just to avoid noobs instataking stuff. Ofcourse "Votekick" must be imrpoved inorder to kick stupid TLs.

P.S The bigest problem with this is how it is unfriendly to new players. Still I must say I spent my first 50 hours of the game in the FF on Apartments inorder to l2p and level the guns a bit...

"Squad Leaders must be allowed to shoot members of their squad with no penalty!"

Damn, Der Commissar is IN TOWN. Heh-Heh. Not a terrible idea, though, but maybe just for certain hardcore servers.

I remember the old order system in RO1 (Yes another "RO1 wass better!" complaint) But when you where Cmdr or Sl/Tl you had like 5 menus of orders you could give. all the little things that made it easyer to convey specifict orders. I miss that.

There's no way anyone should EVER be allowed to teamkill without penalty. Nor force role changes arbitrarily. You're asking for griefing.
shooting squadmates would mostly be for humor factor and nothing more. sure even if there is someone who is disobeying an order, and goes to the opposite direction, it is far better to let him do whatever he does instead of killing him, wasting a ticket, start fighting with said player and just repeat the process.

so to me it can only be done for laughs.

as for SL replacing roles in his squads a big fat NTY. new players will never learn their class this way, and it will make a lot of people angry. although TL replacing SLs is good enough.

Griefing is by definition getting laughs by ruining the game for others. No.

yeah, that's kinda what i was saying, except it would amuse me if i get shot by an angry officer for constantly disobeying his orders
