Base game upgrade
With the transition from GWFL, users who have purchased or registered any previous version of Batman: Arkham Asylum on Steam will be automatically upgraded to the GOTY edition. Both editions will still be available within your Steam Library.

The updated version will no longer require a CD key, however please ensure you are launching the updated GOTY edition.

Yeap. The way Steamplay works is this: You buy the game on Steam, you have access to the game on any of the supported platforms (Win and Mac in this case) with just that one purchase. This also applies to any game that gets Steamplay support in the future.

Yeah thanks, that automatic update erased all my savegames, you jerks!

Nice, but already bought it to upgrade my standard edition. Guess it's only $5 lost.

Unfortunately, the GFWL saves are encrypted for one computer only. It would be a pain to get the GFWL saves decrypted for use on SteamWorks.

Which would you rather have: Lost saves, or unplayable game?

^ There has been a guide on how to decrypt the savegame to work on Steamworks. It has been sticky'ed on the Batman AC Community Hub

Good to see. I was going to jump on Arkham Asylum after reports of the game moving to Steamworks, but after seeing SecuROM pop up again, I promptly canceled the activation.

Is there a rough ETA when this will be implemented? (I purchased Batman:AA when no GOTY was available, and I own both Batman:AC in standard and GOTY format... apparently I like Batman?)

EDIT: Go figure, as soon as I post that I find it hidden in my massive list o stuff.

Excellent news. Bought the game when it first came out, after all this time I can finally play it. I just don't understand why something so awful as GFWL was permitted to live this long.

Great! And finally the achievements work for AA too.

see this thread custerstukov - there might be some information that will help you get your save files working in there ->

I still want to get the GFWL achievements from the base game so I set the 'do not automatically update this game' option in steam and copied all files to be sure so I could always start batman from those unpatched files. Will either of these work?

You might need to put Steam in offline mode as well, otherwise Steam will probably still check with the servers and patch the game when you hit play.

I have the US retail version of Arkham Asylum. The announcement says that I just need to activate my authentication key on Steam, but it is telling me I have an invalid product code.
Kiya Oct 18, 2013 @ 5:03am
I don't think that any of the keys are activating yet.
