Which one should I play first: Asylum or Origins?
Title. Arkham Origins is a prequel, but Arkham Asylum came first.
Let the thread decide.

Origins retains the same gameplay elements used in City. Mechanically it would be better to go Asylum, City, then Origins. That's the order I always recommend.

Agreed. Asulum, City, then Origins. I don't think it really matters what order you play Origins in, but it's not up to par with the other two and may put you off playing them.

I've played all three and just went back to 100 percent Asylum. The gameplay mechanics improve a lot from one installment to the next so you should definitely play release order. Asylum, City, Origins.

Asylum is the best one of Arkham games

And your question sounds like it's a riddle from Nigma :D

The combat and level design in Asylum are the best. I think it's the most realized game of the series. Story wise Origins is the beginning but it's not really a good prequel, I have not finished it yet but I already get a very strong sensation that it is not going to be considered by anyone as part of the proper continuity. Gameplay wise Origins is a cheaper and less polished version of City. City has probably got the most content, it is the latest in the story, and has the most features and more gadgets and combat techniques. Asylum is the best and most realized of the games, City is admirably stuffed full of stuff and is the more technologically advanced Batman game, and Origins is kind of the lame duck that doesn't really understand what made either of the prior Batman games so great. It's an average and maybe even good game but has some glaring flaws and is disappointing compared to the first two. I wouldn't blame anyone for skipping Origins entirely. You could do Origins to get it out of the way or save it for last or not at all. Otherwise play Asylum and then City.

Asylum. If you play origins, asylum will feel restricted. Trust me, its painful trying to play this in chronological order as i am doing now.

Asylum. The mechanics change slightly. It can be frustrating to build combos in Asylum after playing the other two.

Origins for last, because it has multiplayer and takes the longest to finish out of all of em'.
