This little game is not as much fun as people here on Steam make it seem. It's actually the opposite.
Let's see what's good and what's bad.
The story is almost non-existent. Sure, there is some generic uninteresting intro, but that's it. To be honest, I don't mind it as I didn't expect much story from a game of this style (like Alien Swarm which also had very little story)
The graphics is okay. There's nothing that exceptional to mention here. Maybe just that even though the graphics is not that special, it doesn't run as well as I'd expect (on my main computer it's fine, on my laptop it is not).
The sound is average and there's also some music. The soundtrack isn't too memorable but I'm glad it's there. Games tend to get quite "sterile" without music.
What really kills this game is the gameplay. That's a major flaw. Controls are awkward and your character sometimes does whatever he/she likes. It might be better on consoles, but I'm using a PC, so I'm rating that. There are many frustrating and unfair puzzles. Don't get me wrong - the idea behind most puzzles is good, but the execution is weak. Why? Controls. Movement is fine, but jumping is a disaster. You often end up falling to your death and as a consequence lose your valuable points. Which raises the question: Why the hell are you punished for developer's fault? That's ridiculous. There are several moves and tools you can use to get through the levels and puzzles. You've got two tools - a spear and a rope. Both are pretty useful to get to high or distant places. But good luck getting back down. You're forced to use a leap of faith as there is no way to drop while hanging on the edge of platforms. There might aswell be, but it's not in the tips and I haven't found it by myself. Such a thing should be mandatory in Lara Croft games.
There's also a coop mode which I haven't tried yet. If it plays better than singleplayer, this review might change to positive in the future. It's a fat chance though.
To sum it all up, the developers had ideas but clearly didn't know what they were doing. It's a shame because this doesn't look like a bad title. Well, let's hope they learn and don't ♥♥♥♥ up like this with their next game.
