TR Guardian of Light still better than TR 2013
After playing TR 2013 enough i can say that this mini game, despite change of contols and angle is more FUN and have MORE of what makes Tomb Raider a Tomb Raider.
Even story in GoL is better than pathetic nonsense in TR 2013, it could be simple, no sobbing lara, but at least it makes sense and have everything you expect from tomb raider story.
And most important - this game is all about environment puzzles, not about shooting OVER 9000 bum-looking men from barely working covers.

I could not agree more. I know that it is a bit steep comparing the two but Guardian of Light has more of the essence of a Tomb Raider game than the latest one. I just played it and actually had to use skill to fight and solve puzzles.

TR is a good game only it's too simple and it is too different from the previous games. I am still excited for it and I hope that Crystal Dynamics push this franchise forward from this point onwards.

TR 2013 is incredible and the guardian of light is great fun too. There's no need to start threads whining and compairing the two.

Just enjoy good games. Why does every single steam hub descend into people just whinging and moaning??

It's not whinging and moaning, only expressing your opinion and you will find that steam hubs are comprised of either people expressing their opinions (that's where interesting conversations form) or people complaining that the game won't work or run. I'd rather fit into the first category.

Also, I love both games but it has been universally agreed that the tombs on Tomb Raider 2013 were not challenging enough, hence people begin to look to the older games where the tombs were challenging. I still love the game and cannot wait to see where it goes from here.

TR 2013 is bad, not only because tombs are optional, short and not challenging.

Dumb game designers turned entire game into real nonsesne and unrealistic stupid cover shooter.
Shooting from covers in my Tomb Raider? Never!
What was they thinking? Its tomb raider, not damn gears of war! or uncharted. When people buy game from established franchise, they expect this game to deliver familiar expirience unique to this franchise, not some rip off of stupid YOBA (youth oriented brainless aprroved) games like Call of Duty and Uncharted.
Also game was total false advertising, they advertises it like a dark, realistic sruvival horror, where you have to patch lara wounds, hunt animals and cool them on fire to survive on open world island full of tombs, mystery, puzzles and exploration.
But it happened to unrealistic, arcadish cover shooter, where suvival elements vanish right after kill of 1st deer, and horror elements vanish right after 1st wolf encounter, and no open world, very few lame puzzles, cheating and limited exploration with invisible wall on cliffs to prevent you from fallin (what? in Tomb Raider?), magnetic jumps an no falling damage at all, broken mess of barely working gameplay elements, and crap load of stupid and immersion breaking QTEs with giant buttons on screen... and dont let me start about so stupid story, you can imagine.

Definetly NOT A GOOD GAME, even as NOT TOMB RAIDER, and its NOT TOMB RAIDER. Its a trash copy of Uncharted and Resident Evil 4, which spits in face of all Tomb Raider fans and every intelligent man by its stupidity and betrayal of everything, what makes Tomb Raider a Tomb Raider.

I liked the game personally but I understand Voodooman's opinion. I strongly agree that it spat in the face of old Tomb Raider fans but since there weren't many of us, the developers assumed that they can do that.

boo ♥♥♥♥♥ hoo! <3 both games.

This game is excellent and does offer a Tomb Raider experience more akin to the older games, but it's definitely not a better game.

Not here for emotional cry babies who can't deal with change, so they're sobbing all over the internet. Waiting for any chance to slander the reboot. Move on.

You call the new TR game broken? Yes the new TR game may feel different as Lara is a different because she's a teenager being mold to the Tomb Raider we all love!! TR 2013 it's far from a bad game.. Want to know a real bad TR game? I dare ya to play TR Angel of Darkness on PS2 or on PC without patches all the way then come back here and ♥♥♥♥♥ all ya want...

On top of it.. I got to hear if Voodooman rather play TR Angel of Darkness or the TR prequel?
Voodooman May 17, 2013 @ 5:09am
I would rather replay TR1 & TR2 + Anniversary & Underworld. For me AOD and TR 2013 both most failed and crappiest Tomb Raiders. However if i have to choose only between 2 pieces of crap like AOD and 2013 - i would stick to AOD, because its not stupid shooter, its very clunky, buggy and mediocre but still ADVENTURE game with real Lara Croft, which is better than buggy mediocre generic shooter with guest star Terminator and Rambo under cover of Lara Croft wannabe!

Well, that's "gaming evolution" And games for consoles :P
Voodooman May 25, 2013 @ 7:13am
Tomb Raider 1 in 1996 was a console game, was it dumb and unrealistic as TR 2013? No! So its not consoles dumb games down, its stupid game designers, producers and marketing with shareholders makes them like this, because they want every idiot to be able to finish game by pressing X to win, which means (in their theories, no in practice) that more idiots will buy it... but that doesnt work and companies which dumb down their games fails.

I respect your opinion, but I played tomb raider in the two versions are fun and unique as a game, they are different styles of play, the guardian of light is no worse or better than TR 2013, but a style of play different.
aumatroca Jun 8, 2013 @ 11:41pm
I played all the video games Tomb Raider, and other non-eidos, eg ubisoft, specifically assassin's creed from the first to the last, I've also played the Prince of Persia, and I can understand perfectly, the last of ubisoft - assassin's creed III is crap compared to previous the saga.
Tomb Raider feel the same, but have not made the same mistakes that ubisoft latter counts you as born, or rather as Larita had to scramble, as a teenager, however the previous Tomb Raider protagonist is a woman archaeologist professional, experienced and expert in fighting and climbing, and this aspect lara young it was not, it is the vision that gives the game TR 2013, is understanding it evolves into the experience and the acquisition of weapons. For every game has a script background or story.
