VR PILOTS LOUNGE
*edit- For new VR headset users; to play CAP2 in VR please right click CAP2 in your Library- then click on on Properties- go to the BETA Tab- select the vrbeta option- then click ok, let it download. When you start the game it will be on a 2D screen in your headset until you get in the cockpit. Adjust settings as needed...
Hello fellow headset users(VIVE and RIFT). I wanted to create a thread that users could share their issues, discoveries, troubleshooting/solutions, what you would like to see added in future releases and any other info or expeirences you may have playing CAP2 in VR.
Any questions I'll try to respond as quickly as I can-

I guess the first thing i would like to tell headset users is...
If you experience any black boxing on the periphery of your headset while flying: it can be fixed by increasing FOV in the Graphics Menu. Also if your cockpit seems too small try increasing the "IPD" under the "VR Menu".

Also I have both the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift DK2 and CAP2 runs both withougt any hardware problems.

The VR build has been updated to v808.2 so you can try inflight refueling in VR which is pretty cool! It also fixes some VR issues (check the blog).

The VR build has been updated to v809.1. This release uses Steam launch options to select 2D, OpenVR or Oculus. Also IPD is read from the headset controls.

Hi Ppl !
Just installed this beauty. The VR framerate is unbelievable. I hope it gets content and an open development environment so people (outside the original developer team) start loving it and developing for this.

One question : Is there a way to set the Pixel Density value ? The Oculus's debug tool does not seem to affect it ("Pixels per display pixel" setting).
Reply (to myself):
If you have a Rift, run the game through SteamVR after you follow this :

At about 1.6 the quality/performance for my system is amazing.
Best VR experience for me so far. Congratulations to the devs.

Many thanks
George

Glad you're enjoying it! I was considering adding a pixel density setting so workarounds wouldn't be needed.

Hi Ed.
I take it you are the main developer (?) Congratulations as you have done an amazing amount of work at an amazing quality. I hope you find the energy and benefit (as in income, btw I bough two copies) to continue. It's the first simulator that I got more than 600 fps and enjoyed the flying side of it. In VR it's 90 fps no matter what.
I hope by adding stuff you manage to keep it up to acceptable levels.

Regarding the pixel density, yes, please add it ASAP. The issue with the above workaround is that the game must be launched through "steam vr" mode. This adds a small but very noticeable lag to the head movement that after a bit gives you a headache. Launching in "Oculus vr" mode has no lag at all but the PD is not affecting it (not even through oculus debug tool).
So, please add it as the perceived quality improvement in VR is substantial.
Anyway, I kept it too long...
Many thanks and again congrats
George

Hey all - just making sure everyone is aware of Ed's new 'sit rep' thread, the idea is for him to provide quick and casual near daily updates on what he's working on in a way which is not time consuming - its less detailed than the dev blog which we will still continue with when we release an update but this is a good way of keeping you in the loop in between. Obviously you can also contribute to this whilst you cant currently on the dev blog. Please subscribe to the discussion if your'e interested. Cheers!

Hey George, Thanks and I'll add pixel density to the next VR update which should be done this week, It's time to clear up a final couple of issues, get it added to the main build then tagged on Steam as a VR game. Two copies?! Thanks x2 ! :)
BTW what's your system spec? 600fps is great...
georgio Dec 13, 2016 @ 8:49am
Hi Ed.
The PD sounds great news. Many thanks for the rapid response, Looking forward to it.
- Yes, two copies because the good things are even better with good company :)
- My better system is a i7-6700k at 4.5G with a GTX1080 (G1 from gigabyte).
My bests

No CV1 support?
Kyle'o'Ren Dec 31, 2016 @ 4:43am
I don't have CV1 personally, but I imagine if it works for my DK2(smooth as ice I might add), it will certianly work for the CV1 as they both use the same oculus runtime.
Hi guys, running Vive on I7 4770, 16gb ram, gtx 970. I get the -open_vr dialog box and i click ok but it just keeps popping up but CAP2 doesnt start

I've only had similar expirences with other programs so the following may or may not help...
Can you make sure that the HTC is set as primary audio output device..
Make sure other programs are running ok on VIVE.
Re-verify integrety of game cache..
Ensure you have the "vr beta" for CAP2..
Check to make sure Steam VR is up to date..
Insure your other VR devices are turned off/unplugged at the source.(if you have any)
Try running CAP2 in normal mode and selecting VR from the options(may or may not allow you to do so), also try reducing display if you have a high end monitor as the VIVE output is lower from in-game, then try restarting in VR
-
Some desprerate steps.
Turn off GFORCE EXPERIENCE(has been know on some systems to prevent games from running)
Re-install CAP2(this one is a pain as if you have slow internet its quite trying)
Make sure no anti-virus is conflicting with CAP2 and Vive( should be easy to tell if you can run CAP2 regularly and Vive with other games.

Im out of ideas, anyone else can help?
