Direction of the Forums once EA launches?
So I want to start out by saying Thank You for giving me a game I actually feel passionate about enough to actually care what state the community is in.

So, after EA launches, is there any plans on creating a moderating/management team for the forums? Jat is an EXCELLENT guy, but he is only one man, and people like TRH/TLH help answer questions, but they are also needed for development. So what are your thoughts as this community begins to swell?

Already I see more and more hostile comments being flung back and forth in threads, some of which have already had to be locked. While many of us are trying to keep the peace, we simply can't DO anything about the toxicity other than call it out.

So please, are you going to have Moderators (people who are not employed by you but police the forums as volunteers.) Or do you have something else planned?

Getting this under control before it becomes a problem large enough to drive people away would be of some priority, as the community a game has also plays a role in many people's decision to get a game. Even with all the improvements LoL has made to the toxicity in their game, I still have many friends who say the name of it in disgust because of the reputation it had was so tarnished. Don't let this wonderful game be mocked by the gaming community at large because it was allowed to fester too long, please give community management some serious thought now rather than later.

I highly doubt I'll be back on the forums after EA hits hahaha, maybe if they have downtime after a patch etc

I WANT to stay on the forums and engage in discussions with people, but if people who think that "your idea is stupid and your stupid" is a valid response are allowed to run rampant I may not be able to stomach the forums then.

There is a correct way to publicly disagree with someone and an incorrect way, and the only way for people to -learn- the correct way is if they are punished for continuing to do it incorrectly.

I believe once EA hits we'll have a drop in activity in a lot of aspects of the forums as more time will be spent on playing the game, however I do plan to introduce a moderating team from members of the community. We don't ask for much just that you respect each other, keep things legal, keep out the NSFW content and follow the forum-sections to the best of your ability. We'd rather diffuse a situation than out-right punish and we want to promote as much healthy discussion as possible. If certain users are unable to follow the simple requests after being spoken to, then yeah we may take measures to permit their use on the forums - however, we'll do our best to avoid that, and hopefully get them to reform their behaviour/actions as opposed to having to prohibit them.

Once EA begins the forums will be organised into different sections, possibly like this but may change: a place for Bugs/Exploits/Reports, Feedback and Suggestions, General Discussion, Off Topic, Community Content and Groups, Tribes, Mods, Archive and Announcements. There are going to be limitations put in place on certain things, for instance - you may only be able to see certain parts of the game if you own the game, or you won't be able to create a topic in Announcements unless you have a certain title.

It may not be exactly as I described above but I'll be looking to do something like that. We want to keep the forums clean, but also a place where discussion is encouraged.

Thank you, this is precisely what I was looking for. While I do obviously agree that discussion should always be encouraged, I do still hold that there is a right and wrong way to do it. And while at first many people were "doing it right" I am seeing more and more "unhelpful" comments. After seeing the telltale signs of a Dividing Line forming in the community, I felt it was time to ask the question rather than simply hoping it was true. It is Nice to see at least the framework has been laid out, the rest will simply be watching how it is executed.

Anger and fist shaking

And I'm like the others, once EA is implemented I won't be on the forums much unless there is no in-game bug report and I have to post bugs here

honestly most of us are just bored and killing time with the help of the forum.
flaming, trolling and complaining about everything are great ways to kill time .
