how to find friends

i know you prabably already said it, but how will i find my friend when we first get the game. it usually takes a while in other survival games. is this any different.

Use 3rd party communications and the in-game map...

There are "regions" you can pick to spawn in when you first create your character, so if your friend and you pick the same region, you'll spawn pretty near one another, but you will have to search after that.

What does it take and how soon can one aquire a flare gun?

Personally, I'd host a private server for friends without use of 3rd party communications and selecting region be random so finding one another is just a very happy coincidence.

That's a stupid waste of time if you could do it the easier way.

i more or less see the flare gun as way to distract animals and a way to judge how deep a cave is
