My men are stupid
I've spent forever trying to play the darkest hour level and and i gave up and left the game since on d-day i past the 1st part and made a breach in the beach fortifications. The only issue is the narrow path towards the pillboxes. I order my men to move up the path and they drop to the ground and crawl as they get gunned down and no matter how many reinforcments i get i run out of men before i can move in range to attack the the pillboxes. They need to run up and blow up the dang things and i can't get them to run up and take them out before they get shredded to pieces from machine gun fire. I left the game since it was never goning to end and the death toll was just going to rise up the more i play while i get absolutely no where in terms of progressing to the trenches and the massive pillboxes that are firing on the beach. Anyone here have any tips?

I've made it in the past but this time i'm stuck do to my men not running up. I've dealt with this a few times but about 70% of the time i run into this. I wish there were options to make them run, crawl, or walk. That would make things alot easier. I mean look at totalwar games. If you are attacked your men can be ordered to run to avoid projectiles and attack.

There are units with bazookas. These units can clear the bunkers you have to keep these units alive as long as possible.
You have to mass several reinforcement units before attacking (instead of sending all your reinforcements as they arrive). This way you have a wider front which forces enemy to spread the fire. You don't want your units to follow a narrow path and come one by one in front of the enemy in a file. You want a wide assault line, forming an arc with the enemy unit as it's center.
Simple infantry has to take most of the german fire while bazookas destroy them. Place your men in trenches to get cover.

You can use advanced orders too (they are explained in the tutorial, basically you press shift alt or ctrl while clicking your order):
- you can stack orders pressing shift and giving several orders...it allows to make your units follow a less direct path (this is not even explained anywhere but it works!). Pressing shift you can see blue lines showing selected units paths.
- you can ask units to move without firing back at enemy...this is great to make a break through enemy lines or reach a trench.
- you can ask units to shoot only on a specific enemy unit.
- when giving order to a group you can ask them to move together (default) or each unit to move at their own speed.

Yeah i made the mistake of not waiting for reinforcements every time i play. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I will try what you said the next time i play. Probably next time i am done with Rome 2 and Company Of Hereos.

OKAY LISTEN UP!
Here is the tactic, this just takes a bit of time and some re tries.
Don't send them all at once, mass a group send them in squad by squad 1 will be shot at and lie down the other will runs past those again get shot at lie down than others again will run past those. Its just climbing a ladder. Send the bazooka's in as last waves.

I tried the Demo and the Game didnt even start up, it keeps crashing after pushing the "play Demo" button, after what I read this game have a ton of bugs, so I guess I wont be buying it,
I am so glad I tested the demo before buying it, atm this game is not even worth 1 EUR, it is a shame to waiste a beautiful game like this, I really envy the guys who can play it for some reason, Wargaming should get their tumbs out of their asses and start to fix all bugs, but I guess they just don't care about this old game, they got their hands full with their new cash cow World of Tanks making millions for them every week. aparantly they dont care about their old customers.

D3D10 path is pretty crashy jep.
Have you tried forcing D3D9 path? (Unless the demo has none.)

OoW was published by square enix, after some patches(if any) they decided to let wargaming create a standalone MP expansion instead of fixing things i guess.
After some time square enix pulled the plug on the servers due to low demand...gone from steam and users HDD's since then.)
