most likely since they said no more two's or threes its will be a possibility , but there is also Crudsader , holy land sort of game (i know it was an expansion to Med 2 but they didnt add alot of detail)
OR ya know warhammer since they bought it from THK
That would be a really nice idea: Total War: Warring States. Or Total War: Sun-Tzu.

Personally I'd love to see some sort of Total War: Mesoamerica or something like that. As Blue Kight said, that was addressed in an expansion to M2 but it was not really that nice---or historically precise.

Maybe something with ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia would be cool.

thats wrong CA didnt buy them, Saga did and has made a new team of CA to make it , not the same people that made Shogun 2, Rome 2 so on . which leaves a whole company doing nothing (which means they are making a new game)

Total War: China would be very cool. So much history to draw on, and it would be a fresh scene for the game. I know the Mongols are in Medieval 2 and Rome: Barbarian Invasion, but that really just scratches the surface.
Warring States period would be great, because Sun Tsu/Sunzi is so iconic, and would lend leverage to the game. But the Collapse of the Han, Six dynasties period, or the Rise of the Tang or Song dynasties could all be fantastic.
And of course there's the Manchus, Northern Tribes, Koreans, and Vietnamese (in modern day geography) which all can lend diversity to a game set in and around China.
China has such a diverse and beautiful landscape which would make for such an epic setting.

Collapse of the Han, Rise of the Tang, etc... those could be dlcs or stand alones like Fall of the Samurai, or Rise of the Samurai.

i hope so omg that would be awesome,as a big fan of shogun 2i would love to see it.
There's this old under the radar game called Chronicle Of The Three Kingdoms which plays nothing like Total War games, but its an ok adaptation. I'm not sure if it was ever really finished as you can only find demo versions of the game online. Non the less if you find one let me know it seemed like a cool arcade "ish" total war game.

Look at some screenshots and it does look like a good game, sadly hard to find on the internet.
That would be cool as China's history is very rich but I think it would add more diversity if they included the whole of that region for example the Tarters, the Mongols and the South-Eastern Asian kingdoms as well as maybe Japan
