Which TW Game to Buy?

I don't know which game to buy, Shogun 2 or Medieval 2. I've already played Rome and really enjoyed it, but the game is dated and both of these are newer.

Shogun 2

Pros:
. Good graphics
. Have heard it's the best game in the series other than Rome
. Samurai are cool
. Battles are a good duration, not too long and not too short


Cons:
. Japan isn't as interesting to me as Europe, but I am learning about the Mongols which I do find interesting and Japan and Mongolia are sort of related
. I've heard the units are all basically the same, for all factions, making every battle seem the same
. Map is smaller and only one country
. More expensive


Medieval 2

Pros:
. Time period interests me more
. More units and more diversity
. Larger map spanning many countries
. Pope adds a new element and adds religion which makes the game more fun
. Cheaper

Cons:
. Battles take very long from what I've heard
. Graphics are not as good as Shogun 2



I'm still not sure which to get.

Shogun imho is much simpler and easy to start with. My experience comes only from co-operation play so I can say that Shogun provides also more fun during online campaign. Especially with mods.

If it's between those two?...I guess I'll say Shogun II because it's pretty incredible. I still only play Fall of the Samurai.
I only like Medieval II better because i was obsessed with it when it came out.

Both are a couple of the best games CA has made, I think just so you don't graphically hold your nose up at while playing it I'd go with MTW2 next. The gameplay is brilliant, the mods the best that have ever been made for any TW game.

When you've exhausted that bit of fun, desert awaits you in what in my opinion will likely the be the zenith for CA and the TW series w/ S2/ROTS/FOTS.

Definitely Medieval II Gold Edition. It has more depth than Shogun II, diverse factions, better melees and excellent mods like Stainless Steel, Lord of the Rings, Rise of Three Kingdoms and Westeros Total War.

Shogun II looks better and has a nice projectile system, but the AI is quite weak and the game was simplified.

You're definitely going to want to get yourself some mods, I don't know enough about Medieval II, I have it played it for a bit but not as much as Shogun 2( almost 400 hours)

Shogun 2 is the best TW I played. It has the most amount of cultural details making it the most authentic. Though, medival 2 is nice, I'd like to see medival 3 with better graphics.
