Could it be the next TW? Possibly
Despite a rough recent title, a lot of people speculate over what would be the next TW game. Well, chances are that it will be TW: Arena, since its the only confirmed TW game CA is working on. To back this up, take a look at this article:

Just want to put some light on this since it doesn't seem to be well-known. Not too many details are known about this mysterious game, but its supposed to be F2P... I wonder how that will work out. Anyway, what are your thoughts on it, and what would you like to see from this?

I don't like it, IMO TW games are ALL about the grand campaign, I wish they didn't spend any time on this.

I might play it but it won't be a game I'll care about or love like the previous titles.

Grand campaign is the main attraction with TW games. No campaign, no building stuff, diplomacy etc. no money and time from me. We got a lot fast paced strategy mmo already

I've a feeling if Rome 2 is anything to go by arena is going to be absolutely riddled with microtransactions so noooo ty and as mentioned TW with a grand campaign is pretty pointless.

Yes, but I heard no one speaking of it at all previously, so I decided to bring it up. Its also put up there partially to encourage CA that there are some people who did indeed heard the news.

if there was a new total war game it would not be based in such a small area, and arena really? anyway it would most likely be something else, but that we will find out later...

No one is bothering to speak about it because no one really cares. First, CA lost all credibility with Rome 2 and, second, this is a game of pay to win in the making.

Hope it is just a spin-off, much like Spartan: Total War was (anyone remember?).

I know "historical accuracy" of the series is a big draw to some, but it felt like it limited the game sometimes - I'd rather they do a fantasy or science fiction title next.

just wondering how they "lost creditability" with Rome 2. I don't have it so...

I can only give my opinion. Rome 2 was advertised and shown to be something it was not. I managed to get my hands on a Beta and the beta was way better than release. Be that as it may, optimization sucked, collision is removed completely so units can actually get stuck inside a wall or even stacked upon one another, the Total War aspect was remove in favor of a Total Economy system which destroyed the equal footing empire builder this game was meant to be in development, and I can go on for pages including how patches past patch 3 has only removed features and added cheats for the AI to try and make the AI work in the Total Economy system they were not designed to work within. Prior to patch 4, removing food and squalor left you with what the game should have been in campaign playability and as you started taking out smaller nations to build your empire it was also being done the same way map wide. The only thing wrong with the release was optimization and the Battle AI with food and squalor removed. I am currently playing patch 2 version, at turn 110 as Britain and surrounded by Suebi to the east and Rome to the south with my holding Spain, France, and Britain. Both Rome and Suebi are sitting and waiting for me to try and by pass them so they can take me out. I know, because I keep having to go back to my turn 110 save and start again and have finally decided I must take one out before moving farther east and that is going to take awhile as they are both bigger than me and allied. I have also dicovered an Egyptian, Macedonian, and Pontus empires awaiting me for later and still growing. THAT is the Total War I payed for, not the crap later patches.
