Well did you try reinstalling Shogun 2? the corrupted files might be the acual game
[snipars]Shrangfire Mar 2 @ 11:12am
I reinstalled the game and Steam.I verified the gamedatas.

Pretty much the same for me.
After a few months of not opening steam, i update it and want to play a game of Shogun 2 and this stuff happens. Seen a lot of threads raging about it from 2012, but none offers a working solution.
It's just highly annoying...putting it ina VERY VERY friendly way <____<
After all, every game i had installed that uses steam is gone, now that i re-installed steam.
Have to download and install all of them again, which will take.... DAYS / NIGHTS of downloading <____<

Yeah I had to do that too.But it somehow only took like 3 hours.
I have complained to the Sega and Steam support already. But Sega only told me to verify my gamedatas and steam didn't answer yet

So is there any solution to this problem?
Kurosawa Mar 3 @ 12:02pm
Sry, I haven't found any solution. All I'm gonna do right now is cursing Total War once again (Shogun 2 is an awesome game though), especially after all the annoyance I got from Rome 2.
And now this kind of crap happens...

With a little bit of luck a new little patch will come out in a few days or weeks and without any further explanation, we'll be able to play again, without any kind of offense about using cheatprograms or a pirated game copy *sighs*

In case anything else happens or I stumble upon an actual solution, I'll post about it here.

Thanks very much

There is no known solution and developers refuse to fix it. It's been about a year now. The problem is with the adobe AIR client or whatever they used to launch Shogun 2, it causes it to freeze and stop responding before the game actually launches.

I'm surprised more people haven't stepped up to say anything, but for those of us who cannot get it to run, we spent good money on a product which we cannot use, nor will be able to in the foreseeable future. That should be grounds for a refund

I would-rather than to get a refund-be able to play the damn game. But if the developers are too lazy to fix it that would be the only way.
This is the problem. The developers don't actually care about their product, but more about he money. It is like with CoD.

I'm not that big a fan of "Give us a Refund cause it has problems !!! "
Of course it's true that such a problem, especially if it happened 2 years ago already, is unacceptable. However if everyone got a refund for each and every problem, gameprices would explode cause so many people would exploit it and the ones who buy it to really play it and not just test and trash it once a bug occures, will be the ones paying for all those refunds.

No, for me refunds are not the solution here, especially after I already put a good 500 hours of gameplay into Shogun 2 and msot of those 500 hours have been fun.
This simply needs a fix. If it just happened "overnight" with a little update, then it shouldn't take that many hours to find the problem or at least "undo" the last patch and test out what exactly the patch did to the game.

THAT is exactly what I think

Again, it's been a while (at least a year) and no fix or even a hint at it. I read that the reason for this is that it's adobe's problem and they have no intentino to fix it. Creative Assembly can't or won't do anything about it so for those of us for whom it does not work, we are SOL. ♥♥♥♥es me off because I built a nice computer to enjoy it at full graphics and Rome, and it only runs on my ♥♥♥♥ty laptop

Thanks for the info. I tried to start it and it worked instantly. With mods, without mods, Everything running like it used to again.

And yeah, a minor little thing went wrong and it has been fixed for now just over night it seems.
Guess we're lucky that some people DO care about this.

no such luck on my end
