Wise?
I am playing as the Hattori, and it is 1548, and I have a huge army, two allies, and one castle town. Should I go to Kyoto now?

what's the point? you still have to capture a certain number of other provinces before you can win, you can't just go take kyoto and set back and enjoy your victory...i would start taking everything between me and kyoto and work my way to it. I don't know though, I'm not an expert...just my opinion.

The hattori are practically beside Kyoto like 1 province amybe 2 between them, Op might be an idea to capture a line of provinces around kyoto but more importantly what game mode are you playing on? easy, hard, legendary??

Anyway it would be silly with only 1 other province to capture kyoto because you won't be able to hold it unless the AI is mentally challenged.
Secure a nice buffer zone around it.

Well, on my last game I had to take 60 provinces on easy as the Shimazu, but now it is only 35 provinces on moderate.

Also I lost my game as the Shimazu with 42 provinces.

Try and capture more land around kyoto capture all the land as far as the land bridge to kyushu in that direction and then block off the two entry points toward kyoto from the east, try and keep kyoto on side for as long as possible then take it, because if you take it now with just 2 armies and only 1 province you will get steam rolled and your allies will probably turn on you.

I have a anti-realm divide mod, but on my Shimazu game, it did not make much a difference. Also, I do not think I should take the provinces around Kyoto, because my allies own them. Also, I only have one army, but there are like 3,500 men in it. :p

Oh I forgot, I only need 25 provinces to win.

If you have realm divide disabled, allies all around kyoto and you only need to hold 25 provinces + kyoto to win then you can pretty much do what ever you want, unless you intentionally aim to loose the campaign you shouldn't have a problem with it.
Build a fleet to try and catch the black ship or something random just do whatever you want.

Realm divide is partly disabled with this mod, but if I take Kyoto, there is realm divide.

It's probably not worth it. Every clan you meet will most likely instantly declare war on you. You simply don't have the resources to win. You might be able to hold out but you probably won't be able to launch any offensives.

Well... I declared war on the Shogunate last night (In real life) and so far, it has been terrible, and my army is half destoryed, but I still have my Kisho Ninja and Yari Samurai, my only good units. However, one of two of my allies refused to join my side (Asai) and no clan has DECLARED WAR ON ME YET!

Have a lot of leveled up agents to cause problems for the Shogunate and Kyoto can be easy to do. Sabotage, demoralize, assassinate their generals, and have monks along for the ride with your soldiers. I just ran over them with Oda, employing a human wave attack with thousands of ashigaru, and I had sabotaged their reinforcing army before going in.

There's two realm divides, one if you take Kyoto which is not announced, and the other realm divide is the one for being too powerful which is announced. I've forgotten what the penalties are with the smaller realm divide though.

I have played and completed every clan on Shogun2 and 1 thing I did learn is to gain a couple of allies and then take out Kyoto. If you don't before realm divide evryone will turn on you. If they are out of the picture before realm divide your allies usally will hang in there and take some heat for you they will all turn on you in time , but that can be delayed also by just up and giving them some coin $10000 works great. I use no mods as I enjoy the game for what it is. The object is to learn and be smarter out play the AI not cheat and cut corners just to say you won. That isn't winning.

There has been a great turn of events in my game! The Shogunate has lost it's best army, Kyoto is under seige, and my allies are sending help.
