Air Superiority
I feel like plain old rifles should not be able to shoot down planes. Air superiority should be earned by investing in planes or proper AA like flak cannons. That is all.

The problem with that is you could instantly steamroll any AI army or city without flak or planes.

Yes i guess thats true but it's still annoying knowing that $h!tty rifles are downing your planes.
maybe armor for them would be nice

if rifles couldn't shot down planes, then flak cannons should be upgraded, mostly through greater arcs of fire and/or sideways or downward facing flak guns. because otherwise flak is (ironically) quite weak against aircraft due their constrained arc of fire compared to rifles.

Also, your average bolt action was extremely effective against ww2 planes, just it wasnt a huge problem solely because planes dont fly low enough for soldiers to effectively see/fire on said plane, not to mention ballistics. The rifle in game, it can be assumed, is a lot bigger and more powerful than, say, a Lee Enfield, so I don't see why it shouldnt work.

I agree, flak cannons should be improved. Or actually we need more AA vanilla weapons

Now that i think of it, those rifles do look pretty big. They are the size of ppl mounted on the side of the ship. But the rifles are way too accurate. They should have their accuracy against planes significantly reduced.

man sized rifles aside they already have 7x the inacuracy compaired to normal against planes and troops so how much less acurate do they need to be?

yeah technicly they will get a upgrade as now that blast radius is in they don't need to be as acurate since they have a 4 coridor module sized(40 pixels if i rember correctly) damige atack now in the next patch/beta. before thier giant projectile could hit stuf easier but now it can hit a bunch of stuff in a radius so if you have a ton of planes a single flack cannon is going to be very deadly...
That 7 inaccuracy doesn't due anything. The riflemen seem to have no problem landing 360 no scope headshots on the pilots of my planes every time.

joke aside, the type of plane depends a lot, biplanes are way harder to hit than triplanes, mostly because their speed allows them to get away the fire arcs faster and come back to the ship earlier, maybe instead of armor, heavier planes should have some improvements in their maneuverability and/or airplane AI (to stop doing kamikaze runs).

also maybe they could do little barrel rolls to reduce enemy accuracy, i dunno.
