BLUR and Split-Second are great games, but they are not on Steam ...

I always forget that Blur got removed! Glad to have it on my account. Great game. S/S is awesome too.

I also know OP said don't say Transformed...but I'm saying it anyways. Best kart racer of all time in my opinion. Just flawless.

I'd say go for Mario Kart since this is an MK clone. There are Kart games on just about every Ninty console since the SNES.
Theres even the more unique Sonic Riders and Sonic Riders Zero Gravity, sadly SRZG isn't on PC. At least not yet.

BLUR is fantastic, one of the best "kart" racers even though it doesn't have karts. Some of the guys who worked on it got picked up by Sumo, and you can see their influence in SRT :)

It isn't on Steam any more, but I see it on Amazon for like $8 and free shipping with Prime. Go snag it, until Transformed came out it was, imo, the best combat racer out there. Some of the best power-up balance and very pretty and 4-player split-screen. Oh oh oh, you can also do multi-monitor with split-screen. Just spread it across two monitors, and the split-screen will fit across. Either 2 players with their own entire monitor/hdtv, or four with each getting half :D

Really? That is interesting. Sega doesn't use one PC feature (online multiplayer) but they make up for it with another one. (multi-moniter support) Interesting.

I was talking about Blur, not sure if Sonic Racing supports multi-monitor. I don't think this works with Transformed, though, I think it's set at 16:9.

The first Sonic Racing was lacking online, but otherwise it was excellent and priced pretty cheap to account for the missing feature. There are so many online racing options that to me having local multiplayer was actually a bigger deal to me. I don't really have any interest in playing a kart racer online.

Transformed just has *everything*, you can even mix local and online play. And everything else is done great. I wouldn't even call Transformed a "port", it's a full PC game to me. The quality on PC is so good it destroys the console version, especially the performance (30fps if you are lucky on console) and the great texture quality. Plus you can add anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering to make it look great. I run it at 1440p, scaled down to 1080p for my monitor, and it looks freaking gorgeous.

Really? This is new, even for a Sega game. Not even AvP3 was done that well, and the AvP games were based on PC.

I'm not sure about other Sega titles, but Generations and Transformed were both great on PC, and way superior to the console versions. Also, both launched at only $30.

Do you not have Transformed? It's only $20, and often on sale for less. I think it's one of the best kart racers of all time. I haven't played Mario Kart 8, but it's hard to imagine it being that much better.

I have some screenshots of Transformed, it's really pretty. And if you are a fan of old Sega games like Golden Axe, the levels and music are so wonderful.

This. And not just because of the difficulty, but Transformed is better in every single way.
