Invasions + Land Battles
Hello all!

I'm incredibly new to the game (i've only really just finished the tutorial), and it really looks like it could be a lot of fun - but i did have one question. Will we be able to send troops down onto the planet's surface and engage forces there? It's one of the bigger things that i would suggest simply because it would feel a whole lot more tactical from a military perspective. It's where i find games like CK2 and Europa Universalis are lacking. They have figures fighting one another, but you never actually see the fighting.

If you guys could some how incorporate that kind of land combat (think Civ V or Soverignty Crown of Kings), then i think i'd enjoy it a lot more. But who knows! I may enjoy just spamming marines ontop of cities until they fall :P

I know somewhere before the developers said that they didn't want to do this because it would be too much work - but isn't that kind of combat a big part of this game genre? Correct me if i'm wrong, please, but that's just how i feel.

Continue developing this great game, because i can't wait to see what you all do!

Hey WillyMcBride,

Apologies for not replying to this sooner. Right now you can send troops to capture cities as part of the bombing action, but we don't have tactical combat on the ground like Civ. While this kind of gameplay is certainly central to land-based games like Civ, it's not common for space 4X games to focus as much on the planet level gameplay as Predestination does.

Tactical ground combat would certainly mix well with our planetary hex grid and it's something we could definitely consider doing in the future as part of an expansion. It's a very big feature that would require a lot of development time, and for now it's not part of our plans as we have to be very careful about feature creep for the initial release. We definitely know it's an added level of gameplay many people want though.

Hope you will be successful with your game and therefore be able to continue the development of it ...

Yes I agree if the base game is good, I'd love to have this added as an expansion.

God Damn it, I've been watching this game on and off for a while now and one of the main aspects i was very excited by was how much focus at a planetary level you have, in the hopes I'd finally have a 4x title with a very strong tactical game in both space and ground conflict, as well as having the hard core grand strategy style depth in game play in terms of resource management, logistics, research focus, while also having a diverse and interesting explore/expand focus in terms of planetary diversity, stella events, and xeno based interactions to complete the package.

If your able to go down this route in the future with a expansion then you've got a sale straight away but otherwise I'm still going to be waiting for a grand strategy complete with tactical combat in both space and ground warefare. I can't be the only person that really loves the prospect of such a game but I've not found a title that is even attempting ita, which is sad being as theres half a dozen massive 4x titles due out this year.

Adding tactical ground combat would be a big plus to me also.

Me too! Although ancient, the fantasy game, Master of Magic, had excellent tactical play with the plethora of units, abilities and tactics.

I'd buy that expansion\DLC. Are there events & a GNN like news announcing them in the game?

Star General was EXACTLY what I thought of (and hoped for) when I saw the hex grid on Predestination's planets. Perhaps after the game is finished it will make it into an add-on.
