Hey HR,

The next update is ready to be deployed and is just going through final testing and tweaks, so it should be released tonight or tomorrow morning. Apologies on the silence, we've had a bit of a rough month here and I've been concentrating on getting the update ready for release. There'll be full patch notes and a big dev update after the patch with more details!

Cheers,

Quick update: Had some bugs with the tutorial, which are now all corrected. I'm now writing up the extensive patch notes. The update will be released to Steam tomorrow (Match 8th) along with the patch notes. Thanks for your patience!

EDIT: Still writing the patch notes, it's a very big update but I should be done shortly.

Cheers,

Hey Nyphur, and game devs. With tons of similiar small teams releases, its very impressive that you keep on development, even if so slow going. Its still going. Very good game premise, when you finish it, you gonna earn big. Other projects are not so fortunate to have such a dedicated staff.

Slow and steady wins the race Brendan! Thanks for the hard work.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the support! We've had a hell of past two months here with real life problems getting in the way of development and trying to catch up as best we can. It's comments like this that keep me going when things get tough and progress is slow! We had hoped to have the game 100% feature-complete for the end of February, but it was just a target and we're very close to feature-complete now.

The patch (V0.9.6.9) is now released and the patch notes have been posted in the Development Tracker thread. They're pretty long, but the headline features are:

  • Singleplayer Missions fully implemented (first mission will be released ideally this weekend)
  • Mission Modding is implemented by default, as we built the system from the ground up to be 100% moddable and load everything from flat files.
  • The Health/Security/Morale system has been rolled back to the previous version and then we iterated on that design. The result should make a lot more sense and be much easier to manage, but let me know if you have any comments on it.
  • Robotic races have got a bit of an overhaul! They now get the ability to build Seed Ships, which are colony ships with no FTL drive. The forge patches are also now all toggleable options that consume energy/turn to run rather than something you manually activate. And there are a several new Robotic-exclusive technologies to replace the remaining organic and food related techs in their tech trees.
  • Random events such as Revenant Attacks, Legendary Commanders, and Temporal Rifts now operate on a timer, so they're a lot less random and more predictable. Revenant attacks can also be switched off on the galaxy creation screen.
  • A ton of smaller changes, some UI improvements, and a ton of bug-fixes.

V0.9.7.0 will basically just activate the first singleplayer mission, which is currently being tested and having the last of its dialogue finished. This should be out this weekend if all goes well!

    Cheers,

They are not repeating the failure of NoManSky thats for sure :p Nice! You guys take long to throw an update, but its always a big one. Cheering for development!

I'm very curious about the singleplayer missions.
So when we will see the release to official? Nothing happened in 6 days after your post

Thanks for the vote of confidence! Ideally we'd like to be doing updates of this scale once per month or even more frequently than that. We're just a few features, UI screens and assets away from being feature-complete, after which we should be able to focus more on development of new content and release more frequent updates.

Quick update on this to keep everyone in the loop:

It turned out that the first mission had far more bugs than expected, some minor cosmetic things like overlapping text and some serious game-breaking ones such as some objectives not completing when they should and hard crashes during mission dialogue. I believe almost all of those bugs have all been ironed out now, and am personally running through the mission now to check.

It's slow work as we have to restart debugging the mission from the beginning every time we encounter and fix a bug, and we can't use cheats as the progression speed etc is important to the mission design. Estimate for the release of the mission is now Friday 17th March or Saturday 18th, apologies for keeping you waiting but we definitely want this to be bug-free before we publish it.

Yep, this discount will run over the St Patrick's Day weekend. We're doing it alongside a bunch of other Irish game developers to highlight games coming out of Ireland :D

Excuses...just updating you with the truth...other game developers that run through early access just diappear....
Hey hey, dont resolve to negativity here. Razguul, you just got to understand that they do not have a pro studio and do their thing in their time. And, its better that they work at their own pace, instead of releasing a piece of crap (look at NoManSky release)
