Nice Gramer, Guys
New player here. I encountered an Adventure Tile involving a troll working at a furnace. Never before have I stopped mid-game to go directly to the Steam Forums to lambast developers about such grammatical atrocities. The quality of that particular piece of writing trancends the incompetence of an ESL writer or even a sloppy language translation. How a single sentence can be missing commas, include random duplicate words, be a fragment, and not make any sense all at the same time is an unfortunate miracle I'll ruminate upon until I wheeze my last whiskey scented, smoke filled breath; half naked, stuck in a wheelchair, fighting with my ancient bride, and plugged in to a fee-based VR utopia overflowing with 4 Dimensions of Loot.

Seriously guys, sloppy writing is bad enough and destroys immersion and enjoyment. But that text was simply cut out entirely from the editing process and I now expect more of the same. The Devs here clearly know how to communicate in English, and with articulation, so what's the deal?

The game is fun thusfar and I got it on sale, so that's a small measure of comfort.

thusfar?
I thought the sarcasm of 'gramer' was apparent. Thusfar was admittedly a typo, though it's painfully obvious that my own strength or failing with the written word isn't the import of the issue here. We're not in a chat room having a♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥contest over typos and sentence structure. I paid money for a product that was so intellectually deficient in its language that it was insulting to me as a consumer. I have 160 games in my library; most are not works of great literature but none have been so sloppily written as to drive me to call the devs out directly. My ability to communicate coherently is not an essential part of a paid product. Theirs is. Typos are forgivable. What I read was hellish and traumatizing and almost made me cry.

To be fair, it was by far the worst of all the text blocks I've read in the game. Thus far.

If I was being pretentious, I would be arguing my intellectual "superiority" instead of sticking to the topic, which I did. I made my points and stand by them. I also added a bit of humor and hyperbole so as not to come across as such a giant♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I wish I had the text snippet in question to show you. You'd probably get my point. I've never complained about grammar issues in a game. This one was just THAT bad.

It was like you looting the best sword in the game and engraved on the side was "Exkahlibr."

Besides, if I was really that stuck up, I'd be mocking the fact that your sentence makes you sound like a 12 year old, lol. It does, but I couldn't care less either way. Doesn't mean I'm better than you.

I write for a living. I communicate this way. It's not an agenda.

Aimone is correct in calling you pretentious, a person who professes their intelectual superiority is not being pretentious (though he may be something of a braggard) Pretentiousness is when a person uses language beyond their educational level in an effort to convince other people of their superior intellect and the very fact that you failed to understand this varifies his point though I do agree that your @gramer@ comment was very obviously sarcasm.

Edit-apologies for the @'s it appears W10 has again decided to change my preferred keyboard setup from UK to USA, they would have been quotation marks on a UK board.

My God, you really need to expand your literary horizons beyond those of the Steam message boards if you read pretentiousness into that reply. Not all of us are 15 and only fluent in LOLspeak.

^ My one and only point. ^

Yes, you're clearly an intellect aren't you.

That was really selective editing, sir; otherwise your stance falls apart based on my own admission that I am no better. Maybe read the whole quote again?

I'm a 42-year old gamer and resume/business collateral author who speaks like an adult. Like many adults speak. Any many speak more articulately than I. It is anomalous speech because of this forum, not because of the speech itself. You're reading far too much into it.

Perhaps be more concerned that "bruh you sound mad pretencious" is common parlance we're producing in English curriculums in vastly underfunded public education systems teaching crucial future generations. I notice you didn't express criticism of his deficient communication skills. He'll need them in the real world. And not because "I'm smarter."

OR, I just couldn't bear being shown up by 'Cheesus Chrust,' my most deadly intellectual nemesis on a video game entertainment platform...

Do you realize your whole issue with me is that I speak with a decent vocabulary and try to articulate my thoughts well? You're just looking to resent me for expressing ME differently than you or he do. You're being silly and your reasoning is wholly flawed.

Sorry to interrupt the discussion, but it's cool you're 42, I'm a bit less (well, probably quite a bit). Problem here is in the way you are wording it. If you just came here and told like "hey guys, you got the problem here and here. that's how it is and this is how it should be like..." noone would have bashed you, I believe (not to say it would be more helpful for the game developers). sorry for my gramer.

I've read none of this thread but the initial post.

Yes the game has bad grammar, no you don't need to write insane rambling fodder for /r/iamverysmart

You could simply ask nicely for better translations.
I'm sorry, dude, but while I might agree with the fact that the game has some grammatical errors, you do come off as a bit pretentious, going out of your way to use "smart" words while simpler terms would be enough. I'm about to finish my engineering degree, and while I do know (and use) some very technical terms, I don't go around in everyday life using words such as "parlance", "ruminate", etc. Yes, I know those words and what they mean, but they are extremely formal, and not something to write in a gaming forum. And no, I'm not saying that "LOLspeak" is any better.
