Best way to mod?
So I want to get into modding arma 2, OA, and CO, I just wanted to know what is the best modloader/ way to get mods? i've heard that Six updater is good but i'm not certain it's safe, does anyone know if it is or not and if not a better alternative?

PlayWithSix is probably the most convienient modding tool out there, in my opinion.

PW6 is fast, I'll give it that. Not in favor of downloaders of any kind, though.
But basically, it d/l's as fast as your connection can manage.

Just be aware that it's not really easy to have mods running in Arma 2.
For one thing, most bigger mods require those "Community Base Addons" set up properly, and the correct sidemods/addons to that. And then you are stuck playing only with these mods online, you won't be able to conect to servers having different versions/another mod/fewer mods running. For some stuff, you need to beta patch your Arma 2, and that can cause problems, too. Be warned that you will likely have to activate/deactive certain mods a lot.

All in all, it's not that hard, either - but it can be confusing if you don't know what you're doing, even with the help of such downloaders.

Thanks for the responses guys and quick question is playwithsix safe? i've heard some places that it is and some places that it isn't so just curious do you guys use playwithsix? also I realize that i'll need cba for bigger mods, and i mainly plan on playing these mods with my friends and we'll all be running the same mods so i'm not worried about compatibillity. also i've heard online that in my launch parameters for arma 2 oa i can select which mods i want to activate and if all i need to do to deactivate a mod and be able to play on a public server is change my parameters i can live with that.

I personally use PW6 and it's completely safe. The only thing that might be fishy is that there is a lot of links on the download site that looks like the download button for the client, but is just an ad.
yeah i hear you those things are on almost every website and really annoying. but if that's the only issue then i'll probably go get pw6. thanks for the quick responses and the info
Cheers!
Hey if either of you are still there i just had one question, for any of you who have pw6 i got it last night and then started finding these processes in my task manager called awesomium processes,(there was about 9 of them all the same thing). i found that awesomium was one of the prerequisite programs pw6 installed and got rid of it. now pw6 won'd launch and keeps asking me to install awesomium setup.exe. is awesomium safe? do you guys have it too or should i deny permission to install?

Awesomium: "Awesomium is a flexible, windowless, web-browser framework that is meant to be used in your own applications. Think of it as if we took Chrome, chopped it into smaller, re-usable pieces, and served it to you on a nice shiny 32-bit BGRA pixel-buffer platter."
thank you for the analogy lol. just making sure that it wasn't spyware or some other malicious program, again thanks for the quick response
