18 Wheels of Steel: Extreme Trucker

18 Wheels of Steel: Extreme Trucker

Good truck-driving game.
I grabbed this during the sales for just $5 usd.
I've been playing it for a few hours now, and it's a lot of fun actually, so definitely worth the sale price I think. Graphics are decent, and it gives you a good variety of trucks to drive on some sometimes dangerous delivery missions (due to hazardous roads and conditions). If you have a steerling-wheel controller (or other game controller) it can feel more immersive than using keyboard controls.

If you liked games like Rig'n'roll or the other 18 Wheels game, then you'll probably enjoy this one too (and no annoying police chasing you in this one from what I've played so far).

I have American Long Haul and mostly enjoyed it, but it grated on me that the steering wheel was so quick to snap back to center. This made keyboard control pretty much impossible as I had to choose between constantly tapping the keys or making jerky angle turns.

Do the default controls for this game offer any way to simply hold the wheel in one place, other than buying a steering wheel to play it with?
@einexile : There are 3 options in the controls setup;
1: Keyboard only: The steering does snap-back to middle posistion in this mode.
2: Keyboard & Mouse: You use the mouse to steer. It stays where you put it (does not snap-back).
3: Controller & Keyboard: I guess it might depend on your controller, but for me, I have a nice steering wheel (Logitech GT), and the posistion stays where I hold it (though my setting for this wheel, it does have a centering spring effect I have enabled, but I can adjust how strong that effect is).
I have all controls I need mapped over to my controller, so I don't even need to use the keyboard for this mode.

I have the 18 Wheels American Long Haul too, and though in some ways they are quite similar, and despite some shortcomings of this game, I would say overall I enjoy this game. If you're thinking about grabbing it during the sale, I'd recommend it.

Much belated thanks for the response. I guess I had notifications turned off. This is exactly what I was looking for. Sold!
@einexile : You're welcome. I hope it works well for you and you'll enjoy it. I know I do. Lots of fun to drive those big rigs on those challenging roads. :)
I think my favorite map to drive on in the Yungas Road. Some great scenery as you drive big trucks along perilous high mountainous roads. The other maps are good too in thier own way of course.

And hey, it's currently on for a good discounted price during the Christmas sales too, so it's a good time to grab it.

Its a good game if you only expect drive trucks in a simulator game .... zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Someone got a steam key for this game for sale? Add me on steam!
I do like driving the map more than ETS 2, but it lacks incentives like making money and upgrading trucks spent 90% of the time in Australian outback in ETS2. I hope they make something like again someday.
