high scores?

I have yet to figure out how Bookworm decides to burn tiles, so my high score was some years ago, roughly in the 800,000's; I think I've gotten slightly higher but have no proof.
My idea here is not (only) to brag a little, but to get an idea of how good/bad one is in the 'big' picture. What's your highest word? In this current install I am doing very poorly and have nothing to report that would make anyone say oh!

I'll bet some of you have had some great successes with this crazy game...

I've never paid attention to my score, I think my best word was around 6,000 points or so. I'd had to see. I'm more interested in making long and obscure words.

Edit: My best word is "drone" and it's 6450. My longest is "paradoxical". My high score is 3,485,350.

I'm not sure what you mean by how it decides to burn tiles. It's kind of random based on certain factors. Mainly your level and the length of your words. At low levels, only short words are likely to trigger a burning tile, at higher levels they happens constantly. At some point, you reach a cap where it happens no matter what, but is still random. So word length stops mattering.

Managed to get 514970 classic. best word "Crone" 3000. longest word "Berated". My first game, thou I hope to do better next time.

When this game first came out ytears ago I do remember reaching 800,000; my skills have seriously lessened since then!
High score so far 355,850 - Longest word "laugher" and hig score for a word "hood" 3480.

I've been playing a classic game for about 6 months off and on. I'm currently on level 57 with over 15 million points. My best word was about 17,000 points. Can't remember what it was and didn't save a screenshot unfortunately. I'll save a screenshot when I finally get frozen ......

My best word is COMPREHENDED with 7 golds, 4 sapphires, and a diamond. Total word score was 63960 points. I have sort of lost interest in the game now though since I had it set up to do comprehensive and I found out that 12 letters is the longest word the game allows so I got a big X over the final 'e' when I tried to score it. Lame.

But, in the games defense, I logged about 40-something hours in the game before I discovered that so the $1.99 I bought it for has been well worth it. I'm still playing the first game I started when I bought the thing and I'm at Level 51 with almost 11 million points and counting.

I was going to try and catch Crazy Awesome Killer above but now that I can't make longer words I'll probably only play sporadically (that would be a good word ) :-)

Incidentally, I tried to take screenshots but for some reason I couldn't get it to work. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I thought you just had to hit F12. If someone knows what I'm doing wrong I'd appreciate some advice. I took pictures with my cell phone so maybe I'll upload one of those and use it as my avatar....

So what do you have to do to get a screenshot? I see other people have taken them.....

By the way, in answer to your original question about burning tiles.....simply stay away from three letter words whenever possible. And, realistically, you really want to try and only do five letter words or more. Also, I clear the burning tiles as soon as they appear. Don't wait. And when you are clearing them, again, try to use four letter words or more to do it. It's not always possible to do both of those things at the same time so I'll use the three letter words occasionally when clearing the reds. Otherwise, the only other time I use them is when I need to clear some letters so I can manipulate the long words I'm building or to get rid of z, qu, j, and x's. Even then, only rarely.

I use Ashampoo's SNAP 7, a TSR screen capture program; it's the best I've used. You could use windows built-in print screen capture, then use a paint program to save it in a graphic format.

This worked for me when I had problems with screenshots:
Right click on game in your library. Click on Properties. Check the box that says: Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game. F12 should work for you now.

Thx, but some games require you to turn that off; I don't know if it is one of them, but I have others that need the overlay off. GL.
