Not a good game.
So I got this because I heard Heroes of Might and Magic 6 was totally buggy and forced Ubisoft DRM (constant online).

Now I wasted like 7 bucks buying this, terribly disappointed. The interface is.. a little awkward, not bad, just awkward.

The gameplay is like this: no matter your skill you must return to town and heal your troops before taking on another idle mob squad. Fight squad - > return to town - > heal -> fight squad -> return to town -> heal

etc. etc. etc.

Like Heroes of Might/Magic your troops can 'evolve'. This game has a level up feature which is real cool imo, but it fails terribly. Each battle you get about 19 exp and it takes about 1000 for the tier 1 troops to level up ONCE. Pretty sure you need multiple levels just to upgrade one tier. So, in turn, its Final Fantasy / MMO grinding wearing a HoMM mask.

Do Not Buy.

You do not need to return to town that often just to heal. There are many ways to keep your troops healed without going back.

Outside Battle:
You can use shrines/wells scattered about the map. You can also learn and use the heal spell.

During battle:
Potions. They can be purchased, or dropped from battles.
You can also hire on a healer in your castle.

Also your choice at the start of the game matters. If you choose Arch Mage for example, you can cast 2 spells per turn. So you can use 2 heals per turn if you really need it.
Other choices heal you for 15% after each battle but only 1 spell per turn etc.

To hire extras you need leadership which can be done in just a couple levels. On the grid map to upgrade abilities, look for the little flag looking icon. Or right click to see it (+1 leadership) Work towards that quickly and you can hire on a healer.

This is all true, you also have an excess of gold unless you're making and managing multiple squads so its easy to stock up on items. You mentioned the spells sure, but the hero does not have mana, mana is a world resource. But this does not change the grinding gameplay.

I dont like ripping into games, a lot of people worked hard on this. But it fails.

It's not... as terrible as I originally thought. But I loved Disciples and Disciples II, so this one was a big disappointment.

A lot of people would say a lot of the old Disciples gameplay features are dated and don't work anymore, but frankly it would have been better to just left it the way it was rather than try to imitate Might & Magic.

If you'd played any of the old Disciples games you'd realize that they're all a bit grindy, yes, but the fans of the series were used to this. It's still one of my favorite series. Unfortunately in Disciples III it's lost a lot of what it used to be... the narration is downright awful, and the story has really suffered. Bad translation has made a lot of the dialog just strange.

I really wish some other company had picked up this title, because really the best thing you can say about Disciples III is that it stayed faithful to the art direction. Other than that it's an OK game if you're a fan of the series, but people who haven't even played the old ones will probably find little to interest them.

In that case its forgivable. I bought in ignorance.

Come on, it has very solid concept, new battle system is pretty good (since there are no more hex fields in Heroes), but this game falls short due to being cut in content (lack of dwarves and hordes, despite working mana sources and lot of units being already in-game) and definitely rushed release (it's an obvious late beta), but nothing really game-breaking. 7/10, better than HoMM5 for sure (it has terribly broken engine and awful campaigns), on a par with Heroes 6.
Heroes' 6 DRM doesn't force you to be constant online.

As someone who poured several hundred hours into Disciples 1 and 2, I say it's a pretty swell game. Would be the best in series if actually finished.

Despite its flaws Homm5 was fun as hell. I put a lot of hours into that game.

The one thing I don't like with Disciples 3 is how many bugg it has. Ive experince at least 3 or more in each game(so far a total of 37 different bugs/none have even been attempted to be fix). . . Disciples 3 is the restarted cousin in the Disciples series. . If you want a better pick I would say go to Target or a place that sells oldish cheap PC games and go into the PC selection and grap the Disciples 2 all in one box. $9 and its more worth it then this. Same concept level units but no bugs. The only reason im still trying to play Disciples 3 is for the story but that reason is slowly fading.

For Homm you have to go to town to get more unit stacks just like going to town to heal in disciples but I choice "Warrior" to fix around that. Homm and Disciples are not that different in how its played just different when its down in the detail of things. Been playing both and love both. Get the older versions they are better.

Wtf @ OP, I never return to the towns/castles to heal, it's not needed. You can use a spell to heal and there are plenty of fountains where you can heal. Also attack hard enemies/foes with magic or powerup your team with magic before engaging with your group. I also don't encounter bugs. What bugs do you notice?
the steam edition haven't any bug..also true that the older versions are better :s

Read it, I said I bought it because HoMM 6 was bugged. This wasn't buggy, it just sucked.

I liked Disciples 3 as a replacement to Heroes while I wait for Ubisoft to get their heads out of their asses and start acknowledging they have some gamebreaking bugs. Very enjoyable, very addicting apart from two issues.

I can't remember the last time I saw a campaign this predictable and cliché. Through most of the demonic narration, I was groaning through every chapter and it didn't make it any better that I had to hear it all over again every time I loaded a save. Haarhus was somewhat interesting in the beginning, but as soon as the narrator started saying something about past forgotten memories, I was able to predict how the rest of the story was going to play out with a frighteningly low margin of error.

The second issue was that in the campaign, all the 3 main heroes are the same class. When you play 3 different campaigns and just end up putting the stat points in the same stats on every single character and play each character the same way you did the previous one, it just gets tedious and repetitive.

Ignore this person, he is some kind of troll or disgruntled employee. He wrote the same comment copy/past in the other game:
