Why such low score?
Hey all,

I used to play the Disciples 2 demo when I was still a kid, and eventhough I never bought the game, I thought the game was interesting. I liked the upgrade trees, and can vaguely remember upgrading a peasant to a warrior or a witchhunter.

So what happened with Disciples 3? Why does it have such a low score?

It just alienated most of its fanbase. It's a pretty niche series to begin with so you get a bunch of people not accustomed to the genre or series come to it and immediately declare that it sucks due to a handful of difficulty spikes near the beginning, but for anyone invested in the series from earlier titles Renaissance just changed to many of the core values making it a "bad" disciples game. Being forced to stick with a specific character who drove the story forward, being stuck to a path instead of free movement over terrain, so many little changes to things that were previously constants like faction spells, their names and mana costs, then to severe gameplay changes like the thief losing his abilities and the new expanded hex grid battles, these are just examples.

Some things are good, some are bad but most people just came away from it either bored or dissatisfied with the experience hence a low score. The bugs probably didn't help either. Don't take this the wrong way though, if you can get into it there is enjoyment to be found, scores aren't the end all, be all after all.
Scores are based on opinions, and opinions are like azz holes: everybody has one. So if you have watched gameplay videos and this looks appealing to you, go ahead. However, I would suggest you get Reincarnation, since it combines Renaissance with Resurrection.

Is Reincarnation similar to Disciples 2? Because that is the only Disciple game I know and I thought it was pretty good.

I'm loving it, so far, 'though I've not tried the other 2, but I come from the old Heroes games. (2, 3, and some 4)

Shame that enemies dont think much in combat.

I've played 2 as well as Resurrection and while I agree that these earlier Disciples 3 titles could have been better I still find them to be quite enjoyable.
