Never played broken sword one Could I start with this?
I never played the first broken sword (would like to though) but have this one,so If I played it would the first one be spoiled and would this one not be easy to follow?

Should I hold off playing this untill I get and play the first one?

Thanks

It's a new story between the characters introduced to you in the first one. So technically you can play it, but it's better if you play BS 1 first. The only things you will miss are the development in the relationship of the main characters, but that kind of development is important in a saga so in the end it's up to you.
My suggestion is to wait until you can play the first (also the story is by far the greatest in the saga in my opinion).

Hope that help!

If you can, try to play the original version, not the Director's cut, I've read that they cut dialogues and you can't even die in that version.

Yep, I played both versions and the remastered it's a bit childish, you can get clues pressing a button and you can't die (just in a few scenes, I won't spoiler anything). About the dialogue they added a second parallel story for Nico, but I don't remember if there's some dialogue cut out.
It's a good version but I don't like it so much :/

Nah the directors cut of BS1 is rubbish sadly its the only vesion available on steam *COUGH* GOG *COUGH*

As to the OPs question you can play them in that order if you wish however I would suggest starting with BS1, poopoo directors cut and all.

Having said that it won't damage any potential enjoyment you may have, I'm a huge fan of the series and even then at the start I played BS2 first way back when (as the PS1 disc of BS1 was damaged at Blockbuster) and didn't even play BS1 until after playing BS3 also.

I played BS1 and BS2 long ago but if i'm not wrong there is no conection between them, only the characters, of course. Maybe you should play first BS2 to know if you like this kind of games and then try with the first one.

Enjoy it!!

Got to admit, I much prefer the Director's Cut of BS1. It actually gives Nico more than one moment.

Playing the first one gives the players a better insight on the characters and their relationship but it's not necessary.
