ok.... i gave up on win7x64 .... loaded up on another machine win7 x86 (32bit edition) same steam account and NO Problems... for those who don't have this option. I really tried alot to get this work, outside installing on a fat32 small partition with a Steam Library option to install (part of settings on Steam itself) i'm out of ideas.

I'm running 64 bit Win 8 and I get a crash at the same point. An error report pop up then crashes when you press submit! Think it's time to call it a day.

I did manage to fix this, but I have two windows running Win7 (one at 32 the other at 64). Your Choice is partition a small part of your hard rive to 32 Fat and install it there. I had the same problem with Particians III. Unless there is a 64bit path, install it to the 32 bit partition drive.

Easy to do, in steam... when you click install, you are allowed to select which steam directory you want, select the one on the 32 bit fat extension 10-20GB should be enough. (actually i also tried to install to an 16GB USB 3.0 FAT 32 partitioned Memory Stick and it also worked. I hope any of these options work for you Gromit.

Interesting - I had problems with Patrician 3 as well. Thanks very much. I'm still wading my way through the games I bought in the sale, so I think I'll put it on the back burner rather than uninstall. Did you enjoy the game?
