Hello Driver fans, I was just recently wondering whether Ubisoft had taken Uplay off of the game but it says there is none on the store page? I really hate Uplay......

From the store page:

Internet: An Internet connection is required to activate the game during initial installation
Multiplayer: Permanent broadband Internet connection is required (128+ kbps)

Though this doesn't specifically state Uplay is required, that is the program that handles those things.
I think they got rid of the permanent internet connection requirement, however the game will still need an initial connection each time you start, or at the very least when you first install it.

Long story short, Uplay is still required to play.

Ugh, thanks. Is the actual game any fun?

Should I get the reg. edition or the deluxe edition?
Plaid Sep 2, 2013 @ 2:38pm
For five more dollars, you might as well get the deluxe if you can spare the change.
Nightwing Sep 2, 2013 @ 2:38pm
Is it really worth it, or is there not much more in the deluxe edition?
Plaid Sep 2, 2013 @ 2:42pm
It's not a lot more, but if you end up liking the game and want that little extra it could be worth it, and there is no way to upgrade the standard version later on... you'd have to acutally buy the deluxe version to get those extras.

I've seen DLC with less content go for more than 5 bucks, but it's up to you.
It's not the type of extras that feel as though they were stripped from teh main game and you need it to make a complete experience.

The base game is complete.

Is Uplay a problem, what exactly happens when you click play on Steam?
Plaid Sep 2, 2013 @ 2:45pm
Uplay opens up, and then you pick a game from THAT library.

Uplay isn't that bad, TBH.
It uses very little resources and has a fun unlock system for your games.

You may want to manually download the latest version of Uplay to get the latest version.
Though the game may give you the latest version.

I just said "latest version" a lot, didn't I?

Because I bought Splinter Cell Conviction and couple of years ago, and I couldn't play because of Uplay, so I'm really wary. I think I'll get the normal edition now.

I got the standard edition and don't regret it, though I haven't had an issue with Uplay, so...

What was the problem with Conviction?

When I tried clicking on the shortcut, it would start loading, and that's it. And also, does Uplay give you a key that you have to enter?
Plaid Sep 2, 2013 @ 2:53pm
You get the key from Steam and, IIRC, you enter that in Uplay.
It's been a while since I've installed the game, but I know you get the key from Steam.

I wonder if that Conviction problem was something other than Uplay - some other incompatibility.

I don't know, and for the key, do you actually need it? And if so, what do you have to do? Copy Paste? Write it down?
Plaid Sep 2, 2013 @ 2:54pm
you should be able to copy/paste.
I don't remember if it was required or not.
