Game crashes on launch, are you gonna fix this?
Played this game tons of times before. Both Bird Story and To the Moon now crashes on launch.

Sorry to hear it crashes for you, I'm assuming this happens on Mac, right?

Can you please tell us your macOS version?

Also, have you tried verifying the integrity of game files? (You can do this by going to Steam Library, right clicking on A Bird Story, Clicking on Properties, then clicking the Local Files tab, then "Verify the integrity of game files".)

If it fixes it for A Bird Story, please try the same for To the Moon too.

10.11.6 El Capitan. But i doubt this has anything to do with it, as i've been playing Bird Story and To the Moon with this version before a lot of times. I just stopped playing them for like a month, no system updates on my side, nor game updates on your side, the game just likes to crash on launch now. So i doubt it has anything to do on my end, as nothing has changed since the last time i played. Yes i verified integrity of game files, yes i even reinstalled the whole thing. Nothing fixes it, it just keeps crashing as soon as the game window opens... Did the same for both games, nothing works... They are the only games on my steam library having this issue right now, no other game.

Can you please try doing this:
- Open Terminal from Applications/Utilities.
- Please paste the following and press return/enter:
cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/Steam/steamapps/common/A\ Bird\ Story/
(This will go to the directory containing the game files)
- Please paste the following and press return/enter:
~/Library/Application\ Support/Steam/steamapps/common/A\ Bird\ Story/A\ Bird\ Story.app/Contents/MacOS/steamshim_parent ~/Library/Application\ Support/Steam/steamapps/common/A\ Bird\ Story/A\ Bird\ Story.app/Contents/MacOS/mkxp

(Please make sure the whole 4 lines are pasted at once).

If it starts the game as normal, something on Steam is causing an issue, if it doesn't start, please send us the errors given on Terminal.

That's very odd that the Steam integration software closes itself (we use it to add the achievement support).

Can you please also try this to see if the game works without the Steam integration:

Thanks a lot for trying it, can you please try something else too?

Please go to your Steam Library, right click on A Bird Story, click on Properties, go to Betas tab and select mac_beta.

After closing the window it should start downloading a beta build, which should be older than the later builds which your Mac started to have problems with them (or our code starting to have problem with your Mac ;) )

After the update is downloaded, it is expected to see Steam giving you an error when you try to start the game from Steam, please run this command on Terminal instead:

~/Library/Application\ Support/Steam/steamapps/common/A\ Bird\ Story/A\ Bird\ Story.app/Contents/MacOS/mkxp


If it works for you, we can start looking for what changes in our code has caused this compatibility issue.

I know this is frustrating, and I keep asking you to try stuff, but with your help we can hopefully find a fix for the current games which will also benefit Finding Paradise.

It worked! it did give me the error when i tried to launch it so i used that on the terminal and it worked. Should I try the same with To the Moon? and if so, what should i put on the terminal for that game? :)

So the issue started happening when we updated the game to workaround an Intel graphics driver issue (which eventually got fixed on macOS 10.12.5).

I tried doing that with the file on the To the Moon contents, still crashes on me. I downloaded the mac_beta for To the Moon, but… it still crashes as well. I only can play A Bird Story, but i guess that's something… Thanks anyways.

Thank you for trying it, my last guess is the difference in SDL library we use for different builds of the game.

While I try to find the cause, I can suggest you something that will let you play To the Moon and its minisodes just like it is now possible to play A Bird Story.
- Right click on A Bird Story.app and click Show Package Contents.
- Navigate to Contents.
- Copy "MacOS" and "Frameworks" folders.

- Right click on To the Moon.app and click Show Package Contents.
- Navigate to Contents.
- Paste the folders you copied a few steps back.
- If it asks whether you want to merge or overwrite, choose overwrite.
Then try running To the Moon from Finder.
If it works, you can do the same for minisodes too.
